Howdy. I've been reading these forums for a while, but this is the first time posting. I noticed a lot of you are professionals and do some fine work.

So, I've been doing some faces lately based on how I (think) a lot of you paint- by building up layers of color using partially opaque brushes (a little like oil painting). This is one I did from memory of a friend of mine that took 3 hours;

What I'm curious about (besides critique) is how you personally do faces. I'd love to see some planning or step by step work. The interesting thing about faces is that the slightest line or feature placement has monumental effects on the likeness. What do you start with? How do you lay out the face outline? How do you lay out profiles? 3/4 view? Ant's eye view? I'd like to be able to do these faster and more cleanly.

Any draw-overs of this pic or your own drawings you'd like to post would be most welcome.

Thanks!

Look: the skin is almost everywhere the same. I think: more shadding, and more anathomy care.
