canson and vellum with pastel

Do any of you have any tips or tricks on how to use canson mi-tientes paper and vellum paper using pastel. Besides the use of talc powder, do any of you know any techniques? or websites?

mi-tientes paper is ok..you just have to keep in mind that the pastel builds up super fast,so after awhile you do start to push the pigment around a little.
most people use the "wrong" side as the tooth is better.(the non-textured side)
what ive used alot of times that i like is 8x10 sandpaper,like 150-200 grit,holds alot of pastel,kind of looks more like a painting.but does kinda chew through your pastels pretty quick.
also,marker paper.100% rag,really thin(like 15 lb,or something)but awesome tooth,holds an amazing amount of pastel for cheaper paper,but you definitely have to use it on a drawing board or some other rigid surface(same goes for pretty much all paper,though).
another really great thing to do is get a 9x12 or so arches watercolor block,hot press,do a quick under painting with watercolor,and use the pastel for the final layers.good luck!
