my first post to these forums; not sure of the moderator's take on adult content (though I got a look at swampbug's pigbat . . .) so here's links:

the first is the final sketch, second is the (pshop) painted version
I was asked to give a concept for this before, so here's the story: member of a warrior tribe about to participate in a rite of passage -- a knife fight where bravery is measured by how little armor you wear (but really I just wanted to draw something badass)
appreciate any crits, I've been working on photoshop technique, tips/advice welcome

I like your linework and colouring and style.
For crits...
I guess you don't want us to over analyze the meaning of the piece - it was a good thing that you added the little story btw.
So I'll just say that the armour on the leg on our right(her left leg) indicates that the leg would point to the right, but at the same time I feel that without the armour, that leg would point directly at me, or slightly to the left.
That could be just me though.
Ok - I have to add that for the story: If she went into a fight where bravery was measured on how little armour she'd be wearing, I still think she would have chosen to have armour to protect the most vulnerable and important parts of her body, like her whole chest, and whole head.
But I know that's just over analyzing things. This is more just for fun, so. :)
I like it, and you're right - it's badass! :D

thanks for the crits
davi - I was happy with the coloring too, my earlier stuff tended towards bright hues and getting away from that seemed like a turn in the right direction; I'll have to take another look at that right breast
John P - appreciate the thorough crit, you've got a point on the armor thing, though NOT covering the vital areas could be seen as particularly brave; and also there's the whole sexual energy, violent energy thing; I wanted to fully exploit that
redehlert - cool thanks! - Aeon Flux is god, Egon Schiele's a close second

Know what? I prefer this B/W sketch. It has passion in it. Some kind of energy. Coloured-part is not bad, but I still prefer this B/W nude-girl.

Yasek I agree with you, but I usually feel that way about sketches vs finals; I think with a sketch you get that energy, it's really all about the artist's hand on the page, really shows what you're thinking. with finals it becomes more about technique, and things stiffen up; always trying to improve on that - thanks for the comments
