that sketch is pretty sweet ... it reminds me of these custom models i once saw online. they were a combination WWII and robotech-ish models, creating some pretty wicked concepts. they might be able to help you visualize your pic if/when you color it.
if their site ever gets back up-and-running, check out Minion Control (http://www.minioncontrol.com) (it's not up as of the writing of this post ... it seems to be a little touchy like that).

Really nice concept...I love it!
I don't think your illustration quite does justice to the nice forms you have there, though, I'm not sure what's missing, but I think your grid construction lines are a little heavy for one thing, maybe either inking it or shading with a soft pencil?
I guess I'd look at Feng's stuff and see what he does to make nice ideas like that stand out, then make a few photocopies and try markering it or something.

nice work, I'd love to see more in that vein :)

Hey thanks guys... I love this forum, keeps me truly motivated! Its feedback like this that makes me care enough to keep on working on these kinda pics.
Odin: Yes, I'll color it and make a more detailed version... once I figure out how to!
adillon: I gotta check out those robotech/ww2 models you were talkin about.. sure sounds promising:)
saturn: I recently found fengs site on the net... already inspiring me, and hey, thanks for encouraging me man.

Hey that's excellent: really shows it off nicely now :)
only thing I'd do is alter the specular highlight on the bombs a little..make it a bit smaller and brighter so it looks more like paint.
you going to do any more in that style?

saturn: man I know, the spec is way off but im soooo tired of this pic ... I doubt I'll ever care enuff to fix it. thanks for critting tho.
Also, yeah, I hope to do more stuff in this style... perhaps some japanese and allied crafts... well see!
cucaracha: heh, I dont think anyone likes swastikas, but they do, no doubts, imprint a certain heavy evil mood to the entire craft.

theo,
i thought i'd let you know the minion control website is back up. you might want to check out the 'workshop' part of the website ... HERE (http://minioncontrol4.tripod.com/Workshop.htm) ... and look under 'machines of war' on page 1, and the 'star wars' on page 2. these remind me so much of your sketch, and i thought they might help you out.
