Hello all. This will hopefully be a very interesting thread to follow as I will post whatever artistic creations I have over time. Let me explain the story in a nuttshell. I finally got into an art school Ive been trying to enter for a couple of years already. At the end of the four year apprentiship, I will have the title of multimedia concepter ( Im not actually sure of the possible title in english ). For this semester, its mostly going to be manual/creative boosting skills and only after awhile computer content will come into the picture. Ok, well I guess Ill start by posting some content then...

Day 1
Mostly administrative stuff. In the late afternoon we had our first "vision" class. This is more art based then other branches. A way we learnt our way around was to draw over any surface while going around the school. At first I really didnt know why we were just scribbiling on walls...

Day 2
:^^;: Tougher than I thought, which is a good thing. Got the first project.
Place a black dot ( or more in the second part ) in a way that the composition expreses the following words. We have to do 3 searchs for possibilites for each word. I put my "final" composition in blue and I hope people understand it because if not Im pretty wrong so perhaps some advice on this part if possible, Id appreciate. Oh yeah, please dont take into account the quality of these images.

second part, 2 dots of differant sizes

Later on in the day we got a humungous conceptual project to do all on the theme of : The plate ( that you eat on ). Brainstorming etc.

Day 3
First drawing class. The objective seemed simple. With the use of only straight lines, draw. I feel as though I rushed these, and for the most part its rather ugly stuff. The images arent cropped so I could show the composition part of the image. I have posted them in the order I made them.

The teacher passed by at this time saying I wasnt really advancing and should perhaps try something else. Long lines, change of tool and more abstract perhaps..

Im not proud of these drawings. I have no number of maximum drawings I can give next week, but its around 15 or so. Im thinking of only using 4 though. What could I draw with lines....?

Well thats my first of Art School : 4 years to go, please feel free to comment, advise, cheer or be mean. Thanks.

Congratulations for your entering in Art School!

I think itīs a great idea to post the things that you do in the classes. Overall, for the people, like me, that havenīt any academy formation.

Thanks for this first exercises... Keep posting please.

you can actually draw a lot with lines and drawing with straight lines is actually my method used for laying out a drawing. I do all the preliminary sketch work with straight lines and then i go back over it and curve it out. the idea of using the straight line method of drawing is so suggest where things will be. by creating images by using the method you create a grid without having to draw one or rely on you understanding of organic lines and form. it's kid of like putting a puzzle together from the outside in. keep up the good work and if you need any help with drawing stuff in this method im me. my screen name is in my info.

@Pichuerca
Thankyou. Ill try my best to update this thread as often as possible.

@rollb82
Thanks for the offer.

@liam.c
Yes thats exactly what I did for the final composition, its apparently more neutral.

Heres the update. Redid my lines book. Got a good mark for it too. The fact that the one pic with yellow is chaotic and some of my compotions are just plain boring is what prevented me from getting full marks, but a good start. The next part of this project is now finding pictures in books or on the net with the same lines, composostion ideas. This is rather tough.

Heres a box design for a plate, called L'assiette rouge (The red plate). Some sort of photo mix of lips and a plate, Im working on the photos this weekend.

Speaking of photos, I had a project to do called Lignes et Taches or Lines and Spots (not sure if its the right word). I botched up the presentation so Ill have to redo this one for next week. Its like a little book with one photo per page but I messed up the binding and there was a hole too many and it was ugly. Oh well, good thing Ive got more time.

hi there !

hm maybe something for you to think of : i started my art school this year too ... first live drawing class we met our teacher etc .. like usual ... first asignement was to draw balls in 3d and cutting peaces off to show that way depth and stuff.... :rolleyes: .....free hand with construction lines .... it was ment to see how far everyone is in drawing .....ok i do my sketches ..first time he pased by he gave me a comment : you should draw them bigger so mistakes wouldn't be that obvious... at the end of the lesson our asignement was to draw couple relativly big balls of same size not more then 5-6 on a A4 page .... next week i gave my asignement .. i drew maybe like 15 balls ? i putted them in perspective and made them all interact with eachother(they all were on each other ) he was surprised but in a verry positiv way .... now what i want to say is i red that same hapend to you and you did more "abstract" lines ...but you made it more easier for yourself and that way you kinda "gave up" ...but if you would've pushed it and showed that you not going to give up that would gave you much more satisfaction and a teacher that would be standing behind you 100% .. so next time dont be afraid to just ignore their comments if they see that you are not going forward and keep at it till you prove them wrong !!!

(ps : im pretty angry at moment so dont mind too much of what i wrote.... as i look now as a complete jackass ..... )

Nah Ive learnt my lesson being a rebel once before, in this school it will only get you closer to the door. I have to incline myself, censor my bad thoughts to produce clean friendly politically correct stuff. I wear a blueshirt when I hear that a teachers favourite color is blue. Hell I even eat a tictac before I go speak to a teacher. Im sure it helps on some level. Hypocracy is unfortunate, but the only real solution Im afraid.

hmm its not realy about being a rebel but more about achieving .... but anyways... the first tree is realy good done you should add some ground next time tho ..cause when it floots on you paper it looks kinda weird .... and the box design is simple and clean :)
