...two elements I've never quite pinned down. What are your approaches? ;)

-edit- I guess I should mention a few things about the concept. Still developing it of course, but it's a gypsy girl sitting on the head of a giant stone gorilla (reeeallly?).

The picture started out as a sketch for the thunderdome, but she didn't seem badass...or 'battlelicious' enough.

just wanting to show how things are going with cloth.
Took a few minutes out to stare at people's clothes (ya creep..) and noticed that cloth drapes in 'S', 'Y', and hook shapes, etcetera.

Let me know if it looks okay. :)

the gorrila is sweet! although i think its a little too blue to be thought of as stone. the cloth is doing okay in the update, but the lighting is a little weird. prolly cause it still wip tho. keep it up!

thanks chris.

the lighting is off, yes.. i realized that while i was painting it, but i didn't know it was THAT off! I'm working with 3 light sources (hard sun right, soft daylight glow left, dim blue from the monkey).. all that mental picturing made my head explode, but i'll keep working at it.

too blue to be stone? could be.. yes, i think so. i might try using something more cobalt, eh? Guess i'll have to spend more time drawing rocks from life... ugh, boring.:o

For the stone you should play around with adding texture or cracks perhaps? Dirt build-up?

I kind of suck at drawing clothing most of the time but the one thing I would say is just to observe people and see how they where clothes and how the folds work wear they gather at.

well there are a lot of things off but one thing to address is the gorilla does not look like a gorilla. maybe research a gorilla a little more. As for the clothing check out dynamic wrinkles and drapery and that should fix the clothes. but yeah as stated before dirty up the gorilla and make it look old add some moss and cracks and scratches. keep going though cause it has a lot of potential.
