A portrait of some good friends - the Liptons. She wanted to be painted as a mermaid... he didn't have much to say about it... but liked the idea.

He's a Doctor of Osteopathy, she's an Acupuncturist - nice people.

Thanks for the comments... I unveiled it for them last evening as a print on 13 inch x 19 inch paper. I'm always nervous when showing a portrait for the first time to the subject(s)... but they loved it.

Done start to finish in Photoshop from a reference photo that I took during a portrait sitting session for the painting. The image is 4757 pixels x 3426 pixels. That's roughly 12" x 18" at 300ppi. It could be printed with good results at sizes up to 24 " x 36".

i like it too....but my inquiry is don't you feel that the light source (directly behind their heads) would have affected how crisp the faces are? It's like a part of their profile should be 'glowing' or something. geez...i'm not explaining it very well.
you did a great job, and if you ever consider working with the image digitally, i'd suggest playing with setting the mood of love and romance with color and lighting....
fyi - green in the united states is coined as luck, money, growth, environment, jealousy, illness, spring, youth, inexperience, and newness...
interesting, eh?
all in all - i applaud your work!

cheers,
