Just thought I'd post this one incase anyone is having the same issues.
I called wacom tech suppot after seeing a wierd offset issue with the tablet and painter 6 running in classic mode. apparently painter 6 doesn't work with a wacom tablet while running in classic in any setting other than "to fit". the other settings being proportional and one to one.
