What are the best system specs for large brushes on a PC for Painter 8?

I am thinking of getting a new system and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the subject. I find that the large brushes in Painter 8 slow down. I have tried the recommendations for improved performance in this thread, but think it's just my old system slowing it down. So any particular range in processing power I should be looking at or any advantages of intel vs amd etc. Let me know what you guys are running and how its working for you.

I've asked the same question on different boards and also didn't get much help. I don't think people really have that much knowledge of the specific engine painter runs in. But I think the general consensus is that a gig of ram wouldn't hurt, as well as a beefy processor. I'm putting together an amd64 system myself with a gig 'o ddr. It'll run real smoothly as long as you keep the disk you installed painter on clean and defragged (ie don't go installing all your games on that same one and put all your various porn/spyware in the same space)

Also just as important with painter is certainly the screen real-estate. So get a gfx card that has dual monitor support and have yourself some extra space to work in.

Your video card won't make Painter faster. Painter wants lots of CPU power and lots of RAM (I'd even go for 1.5Gb instead of 1).

Well, the quality of the video card does matter of course.
Matrox for example delivers great 2Dcards with 2 or even 3 screens. If you only use your PC for 2D applications you can't go wrong with a G550, cheap and great support for dual screen at high resolutions and high refresh rates.

If you want to play some games with it then get a good 3D card. The 2D won't be as excellent as matrox cards I guess, but I can't tell the difference.
