Is it supposed to be really dark?

I am a bit confused...perhaps my monitor sucks here at work and is too dark :|

Hey man, don't worry, I can see it. I always get this problem.. people are always saying my pictures are too dark when I can see them perfectly. It's because we have newer monitors that are set to be brighter. :\

Anyway - the picture. I like it a lot. The colours are good. The gaussian blur is used well here to help to focus the character.. Nice texture and lighting on his helmet.

If you hadn't seen LOTR, you might not be able to recognise what it is.. But I have, and it looks great. Nice one.

heh, i submitted it at devart and everyone was saying 'all the orcs r too blurry except one, y is that?'. u r the first person that has gotten wat i intended to depict. focus on the orc in the foreground. thank u :confident and yes, i see ur point. my old monitor used ot be like that, but now the new one rocks! though i'd still prefer a flat panel, i just have a flat screen. o well

sorry I really can't make out what that is, it kinda resembles those Urukai that stand before the walls of helms deep but maybe that's just my imagination.

Dude -

I'm not meaning to be overly critical but this looks to me like you just took a still from the mvie and then painted over and blurred it in photoshop.

And apart from the water drop there is a real lack of detail, that makes the pciture not all that interesting.

i understand wat u mean. however, i did take a frame from the movie, had it printed out, and looked at it and painted the pic. i should have pointed out in my description that i didnt do an overpaint. however, if i HAD done an overpaint, i would have said so in my description. therefore, the lack thereof must mean that i haven't done an overpaint

Hmmmm. I remember this sene... I like the rain effect. I think the foreground could use a little more detail, flesh out the armor a little more, the way you did his helmet. I like the depth of field effect, however it seems like it may be overdone a tad. Keep in mind while doing this, that the further away from the focal point the more the object would appear blurred. So there would be different degrees of the blurring effect. In other woids, the next figure over would be less blurred then the background. Hope that makes sense. Anyways, nice pic!
