Heh, I think in the long run, people who steal/copy other's work will face the consequences some way or another.
I've seen several examples of hoaxters(sp?) who have copied other people's work, caught and exposed in threads at the forums I've been to.
It's another thing to be influenced by, or use other artist's work as reference though(at least if you say you have).
A lot of fantasy art(and some other genres) look alike though, and people are definitely copying other artist's style, but there's nothing illegal about that.
But I think in the long run, it pays off to have your own unique style. To me it looks like a lot of people who come out of art schools turn out very similar in style. That's not so good, IMO.
But even if you get to be really good, people will probably still say "Wow, that's really good, you remind me of [artist's name]". 'Cause there are only so many ways to of doing a drawing after all(linework, perspective, proportions, colouring...), and it's "all been done before" by someone...
Your cartoon is cool though.

imho it's no problem to take pictures of good artists to get inspired or simply train your lineart.
the problems start with selling it or saying it's from your genius mind ;)

Wholy snap! You did a drawin just like mine!!! Damn maybe we can start our own board!
Actually I don't ride a train, but thanks... It wasn't meant to be funny, but more to make people think... There are sooooooo many other artist out there to gain influence, and I don't know about you guys, but it gets booring to see talented people all suck from the same resource to the point that damn near everyone is emulate one "conteporary" style.
Had some free time, and thought I'd post something with a sense of humor since everything here is always serious monsters and such!!!

yeah it was funny man it made me laugh hehe. I know what you mean...I think that comes from the fact that a lot of artists are in the middle ground stage...to where their skills haven't developed enough to move forward with their own style...the problem is a lot of people stay there...they don't push their abilities beyond that to greatness. I kind of look at it like this though...there are million rock bands...but some stick out and some don't...they all play electric guitars...they all have verses and choruses to their songs...but its the subtleties that make something great. I think its that way in art as well. Funny comic though dude...mission accomplished...made me think about it!
p.s. - I just wanted to make sure you understood my last post...I didn't mean it like "Oh this drawing was done quickly on a train" and that it wasn't good or whatever. I was just being funny cause in the comic the guy is ripping off someones else's work so I was just being funny by doing the same hehe...in other words I didn't mean to mock you if it came across that way. Just wanted to make sure it came across right. You probably got the joke and are saying, "oh brother why is he explaining it"...but I just wanted to make sure.
