Hey all cool new layout,

Also proud to be up on the main page with my peers.

It's Been a lil since I posted something, so here are a few oil paintings, it's difficult to get really insane with the concept side of these because when your assigned to do them you have to stick to whats given by the publisher, their are some exceptions but usually it's straight forward and you do your best. So if any of you want to get into this field be prepared to compromise a little.

The 2nd and 3rd were more experiments to see if I could get away with making it up with no refrence not sure if I was successful but it was fun to try, I did have bits a pieces of ref for the horse. I have some digital stuff waiting to show you but the publishers not ready to let me show them.

The last piece is dedicated to two guys ElCoro and Insane Visions, they made Austin for me well worth the 22 hour drive, you two are my brothers for life. And since everyone on CA have been stroking your jocks I thought that piece fit perfectly :).

A cavern of black ice/Tor books, oils on masonite

Many people think I paint really tight..not really these zoom prove it :)

Enemies/Tor books, oils on fiber board or particle board
This piece is being reworked but thought I'd show you the finish side.

I kinda liked the pastels in this background zoom, sometimes you paint stuff and you only like little areas..case in point.

Here's that pic dedicated to my Boyz Elcoro and Insane Visions, left a little to your imagination.

whoa! You are an amazing artist!!!! These pieces totaly blow my mind away. One thing I noticed though, is the horse's head (the one closest to us) on the second image, looks weird, maybe it's just to big for it's body, or I think it's the nose area that looks too big.

I might be babling sorry, and once again, your pieces are too cool for school!

All the painted pieces kick ass. I think the sand could look, "more like sand" in the first one, but that's my only crit. The pencil piece... AWESOME. My fav image in this thread.

Good stuff. :)

Lovin your work, great color, amazing landscapes and atmosphere.
Especially the clouds in the first piece. Only crit is the leg on the girl riding the horse seems to be lighted a little strong, the horse is in shadow on that side and all the other characters seem more backlit. Small thing, its really up to you. greatness, That dude has some wicked nipples.

That drive is a bitch man, and I've only gone one way. I can't believe you didn't fly (btw Soutwest flies direct to Austin from Tampa in case you return here)... which I hope you do for the next conference! It was great to meet you and inspiring to see someone painting in oil. Your work is awesome, and your productivity is amazing. Of course I like the last one the best, no wait the second.. all they all kick ass

Comments to reply to cool...

demeter_luna-

Thank you for the reply, and you crit is valid, I did exagerate the head size a bit and skewed it towards us a little, tried to convey a little foreshortening, horses are hard critters to do.

Viag, Hard creation-
Thanks for the words guys.

Liquidwerx-
Thanks man for the words and crit, the sand crit is a valid one I'll have to use refrence for such things in the future. Glad you like the pencil.

Let me begin by saying it was both inspiring and intimidating to watch you paint in Austin.

In case you don't remember who I am, I was the guy attempting to work on a painting while you were making the finishing touches of your demo masterpiece.

The first cover for Avon and the third for Tor are the most successful of the batch. I love the intersecting lines and shapes and how they keep pulling my eye through the compostions. Something seems strange in the second one - is the horse making a sharp turn or about to lose its footing (or is it just me)? Great skies, backgrounds and textures.

Love your drawing style, any chance I could afford to buy one?

Anyways, thanks for sharing the great work!
