... I guess I can't use. Why? Well, I decided asometime before Christmas to explore new styles and fun stuff like that... I messed around with photo-manip, paint-overs and all kinds of stuff I don't normally do. I based this image off a photo of an actress in a magazine. It evolved far beyond the original BUT I would feel weird submitting it. So, I'll just show it informally... Hope you all like.

thats frickin RAD Joel!
is that a pile of bodies behind her?
i love the subtle seams and the circuitry on her skin. thats cool stuff. the background texture is hot shit.
the blade rocks.
who cares if its based off of a photo? im sure its far enough from the origional now that it wouldnt matter. unless your worried about legal shit.
i dont know as much as id like to about the legal stuff surrounding copyright BS.
my only crit is that it looks a bit flat around the shoulder and chest area.
kinda like a cut out. i woulnt know what to do about it though.
if you darkened the edges more you might loose her silhouette in the background. hmm.
great work man!

i think this is great! i don't recognize an actress or model. perhaps you changed it enough. if you are still concerned shoot references of a friend and paint the face again. that is one of the wonders of working digital.
as for critiques. i would like to see the same subtlety of handling in the face and hair as the rest of the body. her jaw line is exceedingly hard. you may have wanted this to suggest at the nature of her build but right now it only reads as a mistake in edges and volume. i think you may have wanted something along the same lines with the hair but it is not reading yet either. perhaps you just need to nudge these ideas a tiny bit further to make them work.
you can definitely make this work!

This is really cool - the circuitry is nice and graphic, and the background is real sinister :evilbat:. But I agree that it gets flat around her jaw and chest. My presumption is those things could be fixed with some modeling and shading (?) - which, in turn, could be a perfect chance for you to depart from the ref enough to make it your own (and/or even changing her face enough to do so as well)..? If you really want to submit this, I think you could pull it off without having the ref be totally evident. Use the pic as a guide, not a blueprint.
Well done!

I've seen this piece in three different forums today! :D
Just as good this time around.
As for crits, I think(in addition to what the others have mentioned) the joint thingy on her right hand makes it look more like she's a puppet/doll than a robot/terminator.
And the other joints, even on the same arm, are not 'hinged' like that(except at the elbow, but too low for that really), so that makes her look a bit stiff, like a puppet to me.
Other than that, it's a great piece, and I can't recognise the actress(or perhaps it's Nicole Kidman?).
The blade especially is really nice.
I think you should enter this one, after a few changes. :)

Yeah, I admit it... I posted across forums. I wanted to get a variety of crits... I appreciate everyones "push" to enter it. I think I will AFTER I finish it out. I had stopped working on it due to the issues I raised earlier. Jon's idea had crossed my mind so I think I'll do that. I agree with most of the crits and I'll post it as soon as I'm done. AND you're right NG it is based on a Kidman photo.
SO- off to finish it up!
and yes, that's a pile of bodies in the background. I had foun sever al horrifying images from the Holocaust. I added texture and reapinted portions (taking OUT detail mostly) to keep it vague. I wanted it to be a subtle thing.
