Just came back from seeing it. Wasnt a fantastic film I didnt think but none the less I enjoyed it and it did some things well. But there are some things that a hard to get wrong when making and action/fantasy.
The first criticism I have is with all this "actual story" stuff. Where they think because they claim they have baised there film on new found information, it somehow makes it a better film. But then after annoucing at first it was going to be the "true story", they quickly forgot this. Films shouldn't claim to be historically acurate, there not documentaries, there entertainment, and should accept that. And for entertainments sake, i think the original tale of King Arther would have been better.
Still nice epic battles, with pretty effects and clever battle strategies. A little nice charector development, but scope for much more. Good british acting from some of the cast (lancelot, the saxon warlord).
But what i most liked about the film was the charector concepts, i'd like to look up the concept artists who worked on. The unqiue feel to each of the different knights. The contrasts between the different cultures/races, and the way they showed it all with clothes, colours, accents and combat behaviour etc. The maddened saxon warlord, is a charector that i'm not going to forget, infact many of them were pretty great.
Last criticisms, too much ambient walking(like over half the film), freedom and ethics talk got a little boring.
See this film, if only to get the chance to post in this great thread. :p
