This is a concept piece for an escape pod. The idea was to design a vehicle using technology that evolved organically, much different from our own.

This looks great, The subtle mix of organics and technology is a favourite of mine. My only critisism would be it appears to look small, tiny in fact, like the fly its based around. I would suggest you give the wings more weight. This could be achieved by adding a spine down the front edge of the wings and creating visible veins within the wing. Suggesting the material of the wings is weighty and requires support. Also where the wings are attached to the body of the pod appears underdeveloped, how are these large, weighty wings attached to the body? It looks insufficient at the moment, but that only applies if you are being realistic to the extreme.
The texture of both the wings and the cockpit are impressive and well suited. Overall great concept, I just think a few areas need adjusting to add to the realism.

I like this idea very much. i'm especially interested in the use of insect like features to represent technology. this looks as though it could lend itself to a very small scale as well. microscopic. but then scale is relative. i'd love to see one of these (or many of them) in a mid escape scene.
keep up the good work.

ioptics, thanks a lot for the input. I used it to redesign the wing mechanism. just thought I'd put up some screenshots of the 3D model so far..
e1ven, the escaping swarm idea sounds very cool! i'll design that scenario for the glamour render of my model, kudos to you.
oblio: may i kiss you?
