...What do you use?
I'm a newbie to the forum and very inspiried by what I've seen on these pages. I'm more of a cartoonist than a concept artist, but non the less, I love to create enviornments and characters.

My main interest is really what programs people prefer to use for digital painting and why? I have Photoshop CS and are planning on getting Painter8 because it's brushes handle more like real media. Plus I cheat and use a Wacom.

So what programs do you guys perfer?

dude you can use a wacom with any of those programs,

and it CERTAINLY isn't cheating.

you're limiting yourself greatly using a mouse.

UNLESS you're one of those people that happens to rock with a mouse and love it, well in that case rock on!! :)

but tablets are a really great tool.

I've used a Wacom for so long, using a mouse is like cave painting for me. My parents bought me a Wacom when I was eight and ever since it is all I've ever used.

I greatly respect those people who can create great imagry using just a mouse.
