just playing around with some new colors, not too happy with the way it turned out.

i like the background lighting effect and the textures, but the back leg just doesn't feel right to me. I'm not too keen on the sort of solid black outline on the figure either (i know it's not entirely solid, but...you know).

All in all nice stuff, but you've got a ways to go before comparing your stuff to el coro.

I missed the part where he said he was on the same level as coro? Get real, man.

Ben, cool mood. Thats blood on the arm? It looks too much like light, the way it is applied, and less like stuff splattered or whatever. My monitor is dark, so sorry if its not blood, the dark areas are hard for me to make out. The way you've shaded the arm makes it look very round, and less...arm shaped. Does that make sense? There's no definition really of arm muscles or shapes, it looks plain and round. I really like the blue light on the left and upside of the face.

more!

hey its pretty cool.. i especially like the face.. i think the arms and legs ned some more work.. the musculature is off though the general shape is more or less right..

thanks guys,

yea i feel the same way, i was focusing on the face, and then the rest of it just kind of fell apart, the anatomy is wonkey, didnt have a clear sense of how i wanted to light the form, no real feel for the composition either, but this is my first full body shot of some humanoid creature, definetly caught me off guard, i really need to study how light falls on the human form. back to the drawing board.

wasnt comparing myself to coro, simply that i was trying out some of the colors he uses.

also ben, are you using textured brushes and whatnot? it might be better, starting out, to use simpler brushes to get the techniques down. i have a feeling some of the problems you are trying to work out might be hiding themselves in cool textures...just a thought.
