Good approach! The front tree is a bit too fuzzy/blurry for my taste (always feel like having to clean my glasses when looking at it) - have you finished your ent painting yet?

Yeah I should have cleaned up the front tree more...I think I was painting at too low of an opacity...I am going to do another tree ent painting but the composition of that other one is really bothering me...I might finish it...I'm not sure. I'm not quite sure if I have the skills as of yet...I should probably work on anatomy and perspective...I'm torn hehe.

you are progressing really well. it seems as though you've got a similar problem to me. i definately don't use 100 percent opacity, i keep it usually around 20 -40, and then bump it up for some areas....but it always seems to leave a sort of blurry and muddy feeling. i suppose that when i hit this point i need to go in with a higher opacity to tighten things up, is that what needs to be done?

keep up the good work!

Thanks guys i appreciate the feedback.

Coma - Thanks for the encouragment bro...I definitely will keep going hehe...can't stop now...no way.

Zipper - Yeah I think working at a lower opacity is definitely one of my downfalls. I still don't understand how craig mullins can have such a sketchy technique yet it looks very detailed...It's amazing to me. Recently, I have started using the oil pastel brush at like 50 percent opacity or more recently for my self portraits and that seems to help a bit. Also I think one of the big things is working at a smaller level. Work at above (at least) 150 dpi so you can zoom in there and work on the details. I think also that low opacity has it's moments...if you are painting a smooth sphere lowering the opacity can help...but painting a rugged tree...doesn't work hehe. Time to be bold...you and I together will take our stylus and move the arrow on the opacity to the right together! (ok that was corny sorry)
