God... for the last time... the head being large is intentional. I was attempting to exaggerate it in order to suggest youth or something like it. And... (please, God, let them hear), a fairy is IMAGINED ... NOT real- so don't be the 20th person to tell me the head is large. I love you guys, but really.... don't make me punch you.
If Briareos were standing in front of me right now (for example), I'd break all his fingers.

Really really nice work Mike! Love her face, though I think her head is a little big. (Haha). Teasin. It's a known and documented fact that pixies have larger heads, or else their brains would be too small. Keep them coming sir, love your work!

i think feeb is going to flip out.
comments like " i think the wings are too small" are the kind of things that I and feeb find shameful in a crit.
That's a completely opinioned crit. That's like saying, I like faeries with pink hair, do it over. The wings were a perferance of feeb and i think as an artist he has the choice to make the wings whatever size he wants.
Your justification might be "but logically the fairy couldn't lift itself up with those wings". It's a fictional character, lord it's small enough to sit on the finger of a human, where does your logic fit into this situation? No where. Let a player play.

I dont think its the fact that her head is too large that bothers me...
I think her eye is too far away from her nose.. You should be able to draw a line following the contour of her face up to the middle of her eye...
Also her jaw looks large or I dunno...
Also normaly the hair line would run in perspective of the head.. so it looks like it somewhat in the wrong direction
Im not sure if you used a ref.. but if you did can you post it..
Everything looks really good,
I really love the finger and the hamster moth.. way cool!

naughty naughty! nice work feeb. your best yet (imho)
I love the face man, dont worry about what people are giving you shit about, but forget that, you OBVIOUSLY KNOW how to give something CHARACTER. people dont realize the more exact everything is, the less personality it'll have.
I took one glance at this and was blown away. good job

Hehe, the hamster-idea is cool!
But the body is to small...ok, joke is over...
Like Deth Jester said, the face looks a little bit distorted...
Nice pose and nice finger...

A most profound thank you to everyone.
Re: The face: Yes, the face is also distorted. I intended for the eyes to be fey, not to feel awkward. I have that crippling blindness of having spent the past few days staring at the same image I started -coupled with the mortality of weaknesses in drawing habits I've had most of my life. I humbly solicit paintovers, if anyone would care to illustrate the problems. Bear in mind that I prefer the eyes being tilted and small and wide-set. This isn't at all an important piece, even though it sports the rep of being my best in stephen's opinion.

I am not against reworking the face, but this is something I don't intend on spending much more time on. It's a bit atypical of what I think I want to develop in my style -even though there are some things about it that spark growth.
*edit* -now that I look at it again, I think it's the forehead that causes the most issues with the face. Yep, now it definitely looks off to me. I'll fix that.

Once again I am impressed. Your work is fantastic Feeb, I can't get enough of it. Your work always gives me that otherworldly feel, a real sense of magic. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hey, that's a great piece!
I only wish I had posted earlier so i could've made a joke.... ;)
:D
I kinda agree about the face a little. Not too big, but the eye on the right is a bit off perhaps.
On the other hand, it's a faerie, and they look a bit like that, don't they. Haven't seen one in real life for a while...
Anyway, very nice, and an inspiration. :)

feeb rules!
The wing and the finger print are rendered so well. My eyes were attracted to the main figure and then when I saw that she was sitting on a finger I was like whoa...that is small! Awesome work man this one is awesome. That little hamster is the best hahahah. .

Great work as usual Feeb. I just have one question... When the heck are you gonna restore your website back to it's former glory?

Well I must say that I like everything way that is now,I
think that you do good jop on her character,
with all ``flaws`` which are said(that is,if you do her
that way purposely)

Mike baby!
Wondered where the Hell you'd gotten off to. I see it was to completely change your style, (Not for the better or worse mind you, just different. It's refreshing) and collect more of that esoteric porn you seem to have in endless supply. (www.girlsinnegligeswithstringedinstruments.com has a new customer I see)
Now on to the crit!
I do love the figure and the innocent yet knowing gesture that you've captured in her expression. The neck is kind of bothering me but I think it's because you didn't account for the shadow of the chin/jaw falling across it so the head looks kind of pasted on, (Which could account some for the "big" look of it.)
The hamster is frikkin' brilliant and I may just have to surreptitiously lift the idea for my own nefarious devices. You never cease to be an inspiration to say the least.
The finger I would tone down the finger pattern a little bit. I can see that it needs to be in there so as to read as "finger" but I think if you toned it down just a hair and made the lines react to the light cast across it, (As in make the lines fainter in the brighter light) the finger would take on much more volume.
And lastly, I too think the wings are a little small. All kidding aside if they were a tad larger they would balance out the figure a little better and strengthen the compostion.
Love the new website by the way... Or at least the interim website. Nice color, cool navigation system, I think you should go that route with the final.

feeb - good to see something from you again. I love the faery sitting on one's fingertip - that's just awesome. It gives you a woderful impression how tiniy she is. Oh, and the little Moth-Hamster is so damn cute. It'sdefinitely one of my favorite pieces, you did. :)
davi - great post, so right!

Hey coooooool. I saw this and thought...how beautyful is THIS? Those textures on the finger and the wings and well, the fairy of course. And that HAMSTER LOL BUT why don't you use another color I thought. She would stick out of the picture much nicer if the background wasn't that contrastet and have a complimantary color like blue or cyan...I tried a little and fast paintover (hope you don't mind too much) but I think color is the ONE weekness in this piece. everything else --, way to go.
and because I don't know if I was clear enough here is my paintover (again: hope I was right to overpaint it

feeb- beautiful peice. I like the matter-of-fact expression on her face. Makes her very real. It did strike me a little as odd, the right side of her face which is turned away a bit, the way it fades into perspective. Probably not something anyone would notice unless they were a critical bostich such as myself.
herm- i think the background color is a matter of intention of mood. Feeb's choice of color presents the fairy in sort of an at-home-comfortable mood, whereas your changes make her seem a little alienated if not frightened. Doesn't really improve or detract from the image quality or presentation itself, it only changes the mood...
