Michel of Twincruiser: One of these days, for some reason, I became very interested in playing cards and their history. I had the urge to make one myself. After some research on the net and some extensive reading, the concept of the card that struck me most was the King of Clubs. I found out that the King of Clubs is actually the king of thieves, rogues and brigands. This fact inspired me to do this piece. To me a king of thieves does not wear a crown on his head since his position is a secret and seclusive one. Instead he wears an amulet beneath his cloak to prove his power. The amulet has the form of a loaf of bread or a cake symbolizing his petty criminal activities (the beginning of every great crime lord). Also he carries with him a club which in Medieval times stood for the murderer or the deceiver.

I agree with Werx, this is awesome. I'd love to own a full deck of cards painted like this. Excellent Job.

Wow...amazing man. This is totally awesome. The story adds so much to it as well. How did you achieve that background texture?...it looks so awesome...also when you say "oils" in painter do you mean the oil pastel brush?...awesome work man...I love the concept and the finished product...no crits here.

No crits from me either.
Awesome work.
But I would like to know how you've achieved the textures on his robe and club. Are each and every little line/dot that makes up the texture hand drawn? If so, it must have taken ages. Or is it some 'trick' you can use to achieve this?
Can a brush in painter do it, for instance(like a texture brush I mean)?
