I like it ...

You probly define the tree bark some more..
Grunge maps usually help with that

I agree with Odin...but wow great perspective. I love the feel of it too...it feels like I'm up high and I am curious who lives in there. Great great job. One thing I noticed is that the stairs (perspective wise) are a little off I think...at some points they look too curved out (like the people walking on them would slide off). But great job man awesome work.

Maybe, you need foreground elements to add depth in your picture, whith more contrast on them
The stairs on the tree seems to be impassable, the angle is too hard.
The trees are too much "tubulars", you should maybe add some textures on them, broke the regularity, maybe more branches and leaf...

If you wanna render more luminous and brilliant windows on the tree, maybe you should darken a little bit more the whole picture

Now, I can recognize your colors choice

I wish my telegraph style isn't too much "aggressive"
Just crits on this piece

I like your work

ODIN SIX: thanks man. i didnt want to get too detailed on the bark because i wanted the trees to have that childrens storybook feeling to them. but maby ill give it a try. you may be right. thanks.

MindCandyMan: thanks! hmmmmmm,, the stairs. it never occured to me that they might look that way. Damn,, it does!
well,, the whole thing is kindof a fish eye view, so the top of the tree is coming toward you. i dont know how to fix that.
shit. thanks for the crits.

Aleksi: hey man,, thanks. really.. i need good constructive crits on this thing a lot more than i need complaments.
this is exactally what i am loooking for. not too aggressive at all. :)
i think you are right about the forground elements. ill give it a shot.
this is a specific kind of tree that only branches around the top. its a rainforest tree. but maby they make for a boring picture? :) ill try the texture.
thanks for the help man! i appreciate it.

Hey Lono

First environment I have seen from you. Good stuff!

Knowing your style I would offer this....

I have found that drawing environments is alot different than drawing people. When you draw people its good to be polished and concise. With environments you can really loosen up. Just lay down tons of lines and grit and scratches. The more the better.

I see this in your piece. You seemed to have tackled it in the same manner you do your characters. Very tight and exact.

Try loosening up. Keep your hand moving quickly and let it flow. Like you have just eaten one of Robs homemade cookies. ahahahahahahh!

You did nail the perspective though. Thats a tough hurdle.

very nice work. I think the textures could be worked on, It looks a bit plastic and soft to touch. The leafs look very nice though. You are doing a very good job at keeping it misty.

Hey Hawk! thanks for the wisdom man.
i was just asking myself "W.W.J.D." ,,, "What Would J-Hawk Do"? :D

yah,, im not too happy with it but i guess its allright for my first one like this.
you got me pegged on the lack of loosness thing. i was telling myself the whole time to go nutts and just fling color everywhere,,, but old habbits die hard,, and i found myself shining it like a jerk. ive got to stop doing that.

im glad you think the perspective looks ok.. im still mastering the vanishing pionts thing. it can be frusterating.

Rob made cookies?? im picturing Rob in an apron.... hmmm. :ahha:

davi: good, im glad the fog is working. i needed something to give it depth. i was affraid it looked like a hack.
thanks.

the branches make the house look tiny, as if little bugs live in there, i like the little propeller generator!
still better than i can ever do~ great work

I like the childhood-storybook clima in this picture. Especially the fog is nice. Keep on workin`.
And yes, maybe try another version with the textures on it.
