I would strongly recommend not copying styles. I am a fan of both of these artists but it doesn't help you to copy directly from their styles. I would suggest working from life as much as possible (if you're not already) and as my Drawing for Sequential Art teacher would say "your style will form on its own". I would say that it's OKto pick up little tidbits from artists, such as how they draw hair or their line weight but don't copy everything they do. Finally, if you want to learn how AH got his style don't study him, study his influences as far back as you can go. For AH it goes Him-->Alphonse Mucha-->Japanese Print artists. So if you wanna learn that really clean style take a gander at some early Japanese artists and maybe a little Mucha. After all, you don't wanna be just anotehr Jim Lee clone or any clone for that matter. I hope this helps some.

I must concur with Hale - this is a fabulous rendering (looks very much like Brandy from Liberty Meadows, but in an outfit sported by Abbey Chase of Danger Girl), and it's really QUITE good - but every single instructor I've ever had the pleasure of being worked over by kept on me about not aping Shirow or Byrne so much and going off to get my own style handled first.
Do love the pic, however.

I think that if you can comprehend what the artist is doing when making the marks they make or how they compose then there is definitely some value to doing a study, but like i said try to pick up tidbits. Look forward to seeing more of your own stuff, and don';t worry about finding a style, because as soon as you find one you'll probably get bored of it or move beyond it.
