I like the shells man. They make great subjects, but subject are only half of what makes a good picture. You need to put them in a setting that says something. Somewhere that makes them intriguing in some way or another. oh and the angle or point of view you capture the subject from is a big deal too. The larger end focused on the spiral, and the inside of the shell I know are good places to start.

The black and white on has some potential though. Up the contrast and drop the brightness a little, that should add a cool effect.

You really added some great interest to the b/w shot, very nice. I noticed the type of shell you used for the second one; why don't you try taking a perspective shot, or a close-up shot, or something of the like with the spines. I think you could come up with some really trippy pics!

Yeah, cheers i'll do that on the weekend. i have exams this week and dont really have time but i cranked this out just then from a quick idea i had

i like the second shell quite a bit. it might be well complimented in some leafy dirty area. the background its in is kind of non-descript. i like the idea of the scattered papers better if they were older-looking parchment with creases and tears, large cursive script. i always wondered about the idea of putting a different animal than usual in a shell, along the lines of ann geddes, only without exploiting small children. maybe a frog or a spider?
