I would suggest doing some lifedrawing to loosen up, and polish your proportions and anatomy. I notice a lot places where you are guessing about anatomy and are unsure of volumes. Style is one thing, but getting the basics down first will help you take that style and run with it.

I would also ditch the photo-paintover. I would rather see it used as reference for an original painting...photo-paintovers are just cheesy.

I agree about doing a paintover of a photograph... it doesn't really accomplish much, except maybe just havin a lil fun in photoshop. I do strongly suggest using photos and painting from them. Trust me you will learn i crapload from doing this, about colors, lighting, textures, anatomy, perspective.... its actually something I need to do more of too.

anatomy needs some work, i would suggest learning the planes of the skull. Perhaps purchasing a skull repilica to help you to reference from.

painting over a picture = no

You will not learn how shapes work in a 3d space if you keep drawing them in the same angle, so be brave and start drawing the head and body from different poistions or you'll get stuck at only drawing profiles in the future because you are too woried about doing something that you are unsure of.

yeah...focus in on anatomy and drawing the figure from life for a while....watch how much your work improves if you do.

keep at it.
