Wish I had a scanner handy at work, I'd flood the forums :mischief:.

I'm liking the 2nd one Tomur, worth fleshing out imo.

Can't wait till I'm home at my tablet/scanner ! :realmad:

I don't know how long I used, or if it's flying or hopping or what, but it was done with Photoshop CS.

@gillespie: beautiful! i love the brushes your worked with. i'm a newbie at this so i'm always wondering how you guys can simulate real brushes in ps&painter.

@jolientjuh: haha great! full of emotion! ;)

@mercapto: do you know this old mega drive game "aquatic games"? there were some fishes which looked exactly like this one. however...like it. got a retro-feeling...

@tomur: you should really work out the second! very interessting idea.

so heres my little cyborg-hyperspace-flying-fish. hope you dig...painter7/1hr

Very nice, Atreyu! If you want realistic brushstrokes, I suggest you try Artrage (http://www.ambientdesign.com/artragedown.html)(free download).
Fun ideas all around today, this topic lends itself to a wide variety of interpretations. I just got home from work and firing up my programs right now, so something inc in 1 hr'ish :dance:.

Atreyu, thanks alot! I really like yours. It has a very convincing countour line, and the fins are great. For brushes, if you're in Photoshop, just make a shape on it's own layer, CTRL click that layer to select the shape, and go Edit>Define Brush Preset. After that, just go to Brushes and look at the dynamics, etc.

tomur, I think you could get something really good out of that concept too. A flying kite/airship hybrid.

To the other two, again, ROFL. =)

Played around in open canvas a bit, not really happy with the result so quit before I spent much time on it :grumble:. Maybe I'll give it another try.

After yesterday's success with the dust mite, I tried to do ugly again. For once I actually managed to get clouds to cooperate with a minimum of hair-tearing. Yay!

Anyway. This was about an hour in photoshop. Reference from google and all that.

gillespie: nice colors! I like the technique.

atreyu: eek! Is that a tumor?

floris: I'd freak if I saw it out my plane window!

goran: Awesome as always. I can't decide which would be scarier - a flying shark or a land shark. :D

tomur: nice coloring!

Bah. Just missed the deadline! Oh well. This one was pretty cool because it wasn't another "Egyptian (insert cliche here)" or whatever. Mine is a pretty straightforward flying fish. Not exactly very highly conceptual from me but fun nonetheless.

not the most original ever, and I'm late. :chicken:

@tomur: I also liked the 2nd sketch better, and it has come out real nice.
@atreyu: It looks like a "frankenstein-fish" a bit, has a great feeling...
@morr: I love it... the eye in particular... I like the way you rendered it.
@mercapto: That's cool, I love his twisted tail! I also liked the hopping one...
@idolator: that's real conceptual! a great idea!
nice work everybody...
