alright, these are going to sound really dumb, but they're bugging me! :(

1) You only pick ONE major for your 4 years of study right? No more than 1 in 4 years?

2) if you have already have a BFA, and you want an MFA, how many more years will it take? (and is an MFA really worth it if you are a good artist coming out of college)

3) Are there required courses that you have to take in college? (english, math, science, etc?)
My intended major is "illustration" and I want most of my classes to be art related! ;)

4) How many credit hours are required to graduate?

Thanks all! :D
Any help will be highly appreciated!!! :)

Hey there, I'll try to answer your questions. ;)

1) Most people only choose ne major, however if you are very diligent you can double major. Generally during your first year of school you will be enrolled in some sort of foundation courses, which will probably be the basics like drawing, color theory, art history 101, painting and so on. Then after your first year you will be allowed to choose a concentration/major. This won't be the exact same for all schools, but I have noticed that it seems to hold true for a lot of them.

2) MFAs generally take 2 years. As for an MFA being worth it....well a lot of that is determined by your own personal goals as an artist. Right now I am looking into an MFA program and I have been out of school now for a few years. Getting an MFA gives you a little more moxy, it also enables you to teach at a college level and has the ability to get you a good lot of professional contacts.

3) Yes there will be required courses, and those courses are dependent upon what your school's curriculum is. Generally you are given electives in different fields such as sciences, humanities and so on. Some guarantees though, you will have to take writing, lit, speech and possibly an CS class.

4) How many credit hours is determined on your prospective college's requirements. You'll have to look that up on their website or ask about it.

Hope that helps somewhat. :)
