I drew this for my Gothic Lit class...i finished it as much as I could, but i didn't want to put it in the finished forum. A crappy internet printout was used for ref.
C&C is welcome!
I resized it for 56k'ers...probably WAY too small....but whatever.:D

Okay, first off don't get offended by what I say, this is just how I see it. I'm not really getting Frankenstein out of this.
I mean, is it Dr. Frankenstein himself, or is it the moster or what? I'm not discouraging you, it's a good drawing, and it definitely has that gothic illustration feel to it. It's just not bring your point across, ya know?
just my two cents for whatever they're worth.

Nice work so far. I think it would benefit tremendously from extra depth. For a really gothic feel, make the trees sink back into the background a little more with some heavier tones, making them a little more foreboding :) Also, suggest some more trees in the background using progressively darker tones, as right now it has no depth at all - It looks like someone's draped a grey sheet behind the first few trees ;)
As for frankensteins monster, he too needs more depth. I'd really give him some dark tones, teamed with some bright highlights, as if he's caught in headlights ;)
Infact, the whole scene might look that extra bit gothic, if you imagine frankenstein is being lit from our view by candle light, so you would only really have a suggestion of the trees around the edges...blah blah blah, I could go on. But it's your image, so it's all up to you :)
It really needs a lot more depth though, thats the key thing. I'll be looking forward to a revised version....keep at it :D

Thx a lot guys for you help!!
I agree that it does need more depth, but I had trouble deciding whether to add more trees in the backround, or just leaving it as it is right now.
Sadclown - I should have said that this is the creature, not dr. frankenstein. I know it doesn't look like the media representation of the creature with a square head and bolts in his neck, but in the movie with Deniro as the creature he does actually look like how i drew him.
Thx again for your comments, and I will start to revise my piece.
~Soupy.
edit - just as i posted my reply, andru's scribble-over loaded for some reason....
Thx for editing it, andru. I now can really see what you were talking about...I wish i had painter so i could add color to my pieces, but i have to use prismacolor markers instead.
