this is my first attempt in Painter. I got it yesterday but had some problems installing it but it works fine now. I spent about 30mins on this with photo reference its suppose to be penelope cruz. Well let me know what you think

Well, the image in itself is a good start, from my view. I won't attempt to crit the figure itself here to extent, because you're learning a new program and I don't know how that may be affecting your abilities or not.

I don't think you should've scribbled on the left though, atleast not so scribbly, maybe do something or the same in a more organized manor there?

Just remember, it's not the tools, it's what you do with them. :)

Happy Painter-ing!

thanks Guys!

hed|lamb: I know I got to continue with the figure I got my Loomis book open everday. Yeah and the background sucks I really didnt give it any thought but will try to keep it more aware of that on the new pieces. thanks

Snowfly: I got PS6 too as well I'm just trying out new things as well as working on pen and paper or real canvas. So I'll keep that in mind about styles on the new peices as well.

don't understand what the debate is about between painter and photochop. to start with photochop is a image manipulation program where painter is a image creation program.

about the figure you has some serious pose issues, get a reference.
