The Programme at SOFA involves a course of study based on classical techniques and methods developed in the Italian Renaissance and practiced for over five hundred years by the world’s great masters.
SOFA stresses individual expression through a complete understanding of the classical methods of drawing: learning to draw the mass and planes of the human form, developing a drawing procedure, understanding figure structure, proportion and artistic anatomy, developing light and shade, and analyzing design and composition. Class demonstrations and lectures are given every session, and individual instruction is given as needed or requested. This program is and excellent foundation for learning to draw from memory and imagination.
