Hey everyone. I've just recently joined these forums, but I've been a guest lurker for a long time. Some real amazing talent on here!

I've just recently begun drawing seriously. I draw and sketch for several hours a day, and it always leaves me feeling so wonderful, and accomplished. So, I think this may be the career choice I've been looking for. I really would just like to get paid to draw all day :)

Anyway, I'm in Raleigh, North Carolina right now. I'm not in college, but I was attending a community college before I moved here.

My question is this, has anyone attended or know anyone who has attended some of the colleges and art schools around here? I'm at a loss as to where to start. I think I'm interested in Illustration as a major. Designing carachters and places seems like my real interest.

I appreciate anyones help.

Thanks

hi Miromanyth, I graduated from UNCG a few years ago and it is an excellent fine arts school..... as for character design and that sort of thing, I'm not sure how much it will help you, but for just purely drawing, painting, illustration, etc. it's great! It's been a few years (i graduated in 2000) and with the recent trend in game design programs, they've probaby advanced quite a bit into those sorts of areas. Worth checking out anyway if you want to stay in NC ;) Good luck to you!

I went to East Carolina in the early 90's. At the time they had one of the best art porgrams in the state. There were several people in the school that had gone to SCAD and said they'd learned more at ECU in one semester than they had in 2 years at SCAD. Not sure how it is these days, but I've heard that UNC-G's the best in the state now for fine arts. Since you're in Raleigh you might want to check into NC State's School of Design. I'm actually thinking about going there myself since it's close by.
