This one could use some serious tightening up as far as sketch lines and color usage. Actually, I think it would look a whole lot better if all of the pencil/ pen marks were completely painted over. Let you colors and your values to the detail work for you. More color would be great too. Maybe a second or a third light source.
Now that I've gotten that out of the way. Dude!!! You've got a nice design going on here, and the movement is awesome. There's movement all over the place, and I can't even tell where all of it is coming from. Good job, seriously. Part of it is due to your characters stance, another part is the the curved motion on those chains, and yet another part is caused by various blurry brush strokes here and there. Gives it a sense of motion blur.
This piece strikes me as far from finished, but as a solid foundation, what you've got is pretty wicked.

Very cool pic. Im gonna steal your design for the dsg ;)
I think the shoulders, head, and neck dont seem to relate to eachother properly. It might be his hidden shoulder,I tend to imagine it as being too far 'inward' or 'backward', compared to his other one.
I agree with what Kallos said about the pencil, but i think it would loose a lot of its grittyness if you did (especially if you added more colour, but i suppose Kallos knows what Kallos is talking about more than I :D). Also, for me, loosing the pencils means a huge amount more work in the rendering. Maybe just go through the pencil layer with an erasor and loose what you can.
I should mention that I am way underqualified to crit this pic. so ignore me if you disagree with anything.

I saw your sketch in the other forum and love it. I grew completely fed up of fantasy art (reviewing too many half-assed portfolios), but this gives hope! I really enjoy the dynamic of your image as some have already mentionned.
Yay! :jump2:

Thanks for the feedback!
Im torn between a completely rendered painting style (no line work) and a under the line art render style. I think if the line work is clean it works good but a rough style such as this would have been better panited over. Im also discovering the importance of desaturated colors, thats why its not so colorful. Some of the anatomy is off because I took the original sketch and cut it up transforming various body parts...Does anyone else like doing this? Ninja_man- I imagined the eyes to be just under the line of the helmet, I didnt want to show them to keep him meaner. Egerie- Where do you work getting to review fantasy porfolios? Thanks again!
