This might be a little off subject (not concept art that is).

I've been designing and animating a site for the Swedish animation studio Happy Life.
The site has been launched!

www.happylife.se

Character animation by a friend of mine, programming by Happy Life's inhouse webmaster and design and some easier animations by me!

Enjoy,
Leopoldo

well i got 2 main problems with it.
it seems that there are like 3 styles mixed that donīt really blend well.
the logo leaks a certain mc donalds über chroma happy style while the animations still are pretty muted in color. and i feel that the kinda gothic bg artwork and menu donīt suit any of the above styles.

the other thing is the chaos in typography. u can barely click anywhere without
getting the type to change drastically. if not the font itself, at least the color will change or extended type will turn to condensed.

shit. i totally donīt want to diss your work but good design is tight design, and tight doesnīt have to be boring but completely controlled in every aspect unless u are david carson or simply born a genius. and even his work actually is very tight...
... in itīs own chaotic way.

design is an art on itīs own. an art that ppl usually take for granted, and somehow there are lots of parrallels between design and abstract art because
itīs everywhere and doesnīt wake the impression of requiring really skill at first glance. but in good works there is a hell of a lot skill underneath the surface.
more than most can imagine to be there.

maybe it can be also compared to painting a portrait.
a masterful artist can make a face thatīs not pefectly symmetric still look right and beautiful while a lesser one would propably mess up the symmetry of a perfect face and afterwards think he had done exactly the same the master did.

gah iīm in a ranting mood... plz forgive and keep busy.

Hey.

Interesting site. It's got some decently smooth navigation and some cool animations. I guess I partly agree with Dan. v. D. in that it'd be nice to have a consistant theme that creates a relationship between the site's flash interface and the art and animayion. Especially if it's purpose is to present you as an artist.

Pay no attention to "sam_1980". Apperently he's one of the few people here who like to dog-pile on new people when they post in the wrong section when only one polite notice will do. It's a ironic/funny trend I've been observing here. Don't sweat it though.
