Hi everybody,

First of all - you guys really are amazing. I like the stuff I see here so much that I took up drawing again... So in a sense, if you don't like my stuff, you've brought it on yourselves :)

Here's my first attempt with my new Wacom, done in PS.

Still trying to get to grips with Painter, so I'm sticking to PS for the moment. Also, I'm only about halfway through rendering this one. The frontal, boring pose is because I'm also going to use it as a reference plane for modeling in Maya.

Anybody have any quick remarks, tips, etc.? Esp. rendering, it's kind of new to me...

Thanks

David

That's pretty good, but here are some tips and suggestions.
The focal point (the faceplate), needs to be more detailed and not so smudged out, Faceplates are really smooth and reflective, and follows the same shading pattern as a sphere, it involves a highlight, mid tone, shadow core, and reflected light.

So far you only have the highlight, which makes it seem flat.

Now, what you can do with the white is add some blues into the shading, to make it seem more realistic.

But that's pretty good, for starting out again. :)
