Everything is really nice ..except the face which is a bit weak and generic and the blind fold dont go round the head quite right. Great feel on the rest.

Awesome, really cool. I like the whicker feel of the coat.

thanks for the comments
treeshark: not sure how the face is "generic"....I've thought about and I can't really think of any other way I would've painted it...she's sleeping...and so, isn't that what people look like when they're sleeping?:) As far as the blindfold, I could go either way on that...I meant it to not feel like it was on her face perfectly....but maybe its not reading correctly. Anyways, I do appreciate your critique

Watch a person sleeping, when they dream their eyes rove their brow furrows the mouth twiches..in the case of my girlfriend her teeth grind!! Maybe the blind fold isnt needed. A dream state after all isnt quite the same as unconsciousness.

well yeh they do twitch and curl thier brow, but that's say 1% of the time and again I say it really wouldn't fit here. Still, I do think there could be a bit more expression.

I don't know if you meant to but the arms look like sticks. Maybe they could be a bit bent or have some suggestion of muscles/form. Otherwise it is a really awesome pic, very original. ;)

Very nice concept and execution. Good job. The little glowing balls really give it a magical feel.
The branches coming out of the coat's arms remind me of the movie Titus (based on the Shakespeare play) with Anthony Hopkins.

Hey,....thanks for all crits and comments on the piece.
I did mean the arms to look lik they were made out of sticks and wanted the girl to feel like she was being "lost" inside the coat. I toyed with the idea of suggesting a more human element to the "figure" but opted not to go in that direction. I really wanted her to feel like she was being suspended.

i think the face is a bit too small, even if she is loosing herself in the coat.
otherwise, iŽd never get something compareably to paper/pc myself, so...
fuck i like it a lot!!

agree...the face doesn't seem to have enough character. Everything else is mystical and dreamy, while the face feels quite bland.
Also the arms feel straight and stiff. Maybe if they were depicted as if hanging by the cords, it would give it a more looser, organic feel.

thanks for the comments here.
I'm trying to wrap my head around the "expression of the face" comments. I agree...something doesn't feel quite right about and it is a bit "regular" The only thing is I really can't think of another solution. I certainly don't want the face to have a strong expression either. The feeling I was going for with the girl is a feeling of contentment and surrender to the dream. If I am to change the expression it will have to subtle. Without the blind fold covering the eyes I feel like there isn't too much to work with. Could it be less about the expression of the face and more about the angle? Maybe if she was turning away or leaning back into the hood?
