Im trying to develope my vehicle design abilitys..
not very much of this stuff in my portfolio.
i was recently asked to design a Steampunk vehicle,, so heres what i did.
http://www.joshmartel.net/zachhall/steamcar.jpg
its got some minor perspective issues here and there but im hoping its not too noticable or distracting.
crits are more than wealcome.

very nice lono.
you have that very smooth and clean rendering, concentrating on special details without altering the whole thing.
i really have to look hard in order to find any perspective problems.
that vehicle looks a bit like a funny animal too, because of these eyes and mouth on that round copper fuel thingie.
bravo! :>

Except for the few minor(and not important IMO) perspective errors, this thing is just beautifully rendered, and looks like something that could've been made once upon a time.
For some reason it makes me think about the machines used in Wild Wild West(the movie with Will Smith).
Probably similar to the concept art they had for that movie.
Very very nice indeed.
I've always had problems drawing vehicles.... :(

iwasink: Cool man, thanks. Steampunk is a genre i guess. there are some steampunk comics and rpg's out there i think. its basically an alternate future where most of the technology is steam powered. so you get to mix periods. really high tech looking stuff with a 1900's twist to it.
ODIN SIX: thanks man. actually,,, would you believe this one was done completely in photoshop? the photoshop paint brush isnt too bad.. nowhere near as good as painter brushes though.
sparth: hey thanks! yah it does look like a critter of some kind. sorta resembles a snail. hah. imagine the chair is his head, and the tank his shell area, and the cow pusher his foot.
hah.
davi: thanks Davirino! and its so sweet of you to give that one to me twice. UH,,, double up, UH,, UH!
¤ N G ¤: great! thanks. i never saw that movie, but i remember the trailers. the vehicles looked like the only good reason to see that movie. and keven Kline.
Living Rope: Thanks ROPE! took about 2 days once i got the design hammered out. thats what took the longest. i had to do a little bit of brain training to visualize something this technical.

Me likes it! I also like the textures you used, especially the pounded metal effect. But there's something.....well, not sure,..but there are some areas where you used lines to pop out certain areas, and some parts you didn't...and I think it'd be more consistent if you chose one way or the other, cause the area's you didn't pop out seem a bit flat.Like the area around the copper tank, where the tubes stick out of it?....

FrailFreak: hey thanks. your right about the lines. ill fix it. i really sped through this thing. thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Makafui: Thanks duder!
cotron: sweet. im glad the colors and textures are going over well. i wanted to keep things a bit subtle without it looking bland.
