Hi. I finished it a lot earlier than I thought. I thought I'd be fighting the deadline.

This is without a doubt the drawing I've spent the most time making in my entire life. I've been working on it every day for a week or two, also because I've tried different ideas and sometimes just staring blankly onto the screen not knowing what to do next...

The story behind it is that the machines sent back robots to infiltrate families through adoption, or by replacing the humans own kids directly, to destroy the human society from within. This robot is codenamed C.H.I.L.D., or Cyberdyne Human Infiltration and Licvidation Device.

My story, ©. ;)

Done entirely in Photoshop with Wacom Intuos drawing tablet, using refs(but having to pretty much reconstruct the refs, but that's what refs are for I guess).

Hope you like it as much as I have enjoyed and worked hard making it. :)

30% of original size:

(Sorry about all the edits, but the deadline isn't reached yet, so...)

Hallo to everyone. This is mine vision of terminator. I don't have any story behind. It take long time to finish , and I try to give my best. I done first with acrylic than scanned image (40x40cm) and finished vith painter & photoshop (painter for form create, photoshop for colour corection).
I need any suggestion to maybe correct image beafore dead line.

Thanx Elliot. I was glad for your rich reply. I agrre that composition isn't very good, but I want to keep it quadrate, with carracter in the middle (I think that calls formal composition) beacause I want to explain something monolit, and to make effect of some cover, not like some movie scene. About rail I also agree and I'll try to fix it with some gradient color in it.

Danilo

Translate: From when are you in this forum. I think it is good. Actually I am hir to find some work and to hear what others think about my works( and it is interesting).

PS. Naravno glupo mi je da pricam sa tobom na engleskom pa mi nemoj zameriti na ovakvim odgovorima.

Here is another. (Sorry Davi, you may want to shield your eyes :/ ) I kinda drew this one and the other one at the same time, so you may get the same feeling. Actually I drew this one first, without reference (http://www.rebellionjj.com/MOS/t3sketch.jpg), but then had to fix it because the terminator was totally wrong.

I have another idea too, and it doesn't involve flames. We'll see if I can find the time to do it..

This image is part of a larger version you see below.
I cropped it because I felt I couldn't be fucked doing anymore of the larger pic and that it was too busy anywayz, that is, there was too much going on in the larger picture. Anywayz, I think I'm done. So, the first pic here is my final entry.

Inace ja sam na ovom forumu mislim od Avgusta 2002,

it`s best ever)
Kako si ti naisao na ovaj forum?Jesi li na primenjenoj?
Batteram> Larger version is little bit odd to me,the middle
of it looks off,you got strange cuts Between terminators gun
and by that building and totem,I mean that cut is visible and
strange, but the right part of pic looks good to me.
Good coloring.

Loga: The larger version I was going to finish but couldn't be bothered, even if the deadline is extended. The line you see there which separates the left side of the pic from the whole of the picture was meant to be there because that is the final picture for this contest. That is, the first picture, that is the closeup of the terminator in the flames and infront of the burning church is my final entry. The larger picture is just showing you that I cropped that bit because I felt the larger version was too busy and there was too much going, so thats why I just decided to concentrate on the left side of the picture and used the 'Rectangular Marquee Tool' in Photoshop to do just that, so that explains the weird separating line you see in the larger version. So, my final version is the first pic.

very good batteram!

something you may want to think about though is, all of your reflected light on the terminator is blue or white, and since he is engulfed in fire it should really be reflecting the flames. the bluish glow kinda seperates him from the whole piece which in this case is bad. makes him look like hes pasted in there. maby you could leave the blue on one side for an auxilary light source. could be the moonlight.
you could probably tweak it in photoshop or just repaint the bitch. i think its worth the extra time personally.
its a good piece and could be easily zipped up.

That's what I'm talkin about........that is awesome aleksi!!!!!!! I really like the second one but the first one is definitely my favorite of the two. That machine in the background is sweeeeeeeeeeettttt too..as well as the flashes from his guns...man you are awesome. Eat Poo is goin down!!!! We are building our army slowly but surely!!!!

January 24th, 2003, 01:18 PM
:jawdrop: wow. aleksi , if i were the terminator people i would be knocking on your door. personally i love the second one the best, the suspense, you really feel the whole terminator brand and the backdrop is also really moody, you can see the devastation without it being in progress - just this unstoppable terminator looking for any living remnant....scary.

i think mcotie's also really speaks to where they want to be going with the brand, I would like to see her in a setting, creating an emotion in me, we know what the terminator looks like, but it is what they do, and the fear they create that makes the thriller.

bravo and best of luck to all of you.

Hi, i'am more than impressed with your artworks, have seen
Alex Ross's contributions?
If you haven't try his web site or look for a series of comics under the title of 'The Burning Earth' , i believe you have a very simmler style!!

If you are already know of his works , i 'd like to say that the last two Terminator pics are just out of this world!
Please consider creating a decent graphic novel about the the future war scenario.
Try contacting whoever has the comic rights, i'am sure they'd be interested .;)

Aleksi
March 1st, 2003, 11:25 AM
They don't speak about the result of the contest on eatpoo, funny :p

Mosquito : I don't really think these works are looking like Alex Ross stuff.
Alex Ross is a very big and skilled drawer and painter but his illustrations are always more soft ( no brushstrokes on them, no "accidents", lot of aerograph ) and vivid colored.
His works are too clean for me and maybe a little bit oldschool, speaking about design and concept choices... I really like some of them but I cannot say I'm an "unconditional" fan of him. But he's really a fantastic and incredible realism painter.

I don't ever see this "Burning Earth" comics... A recent comics?
I know "Earth X" but not this title

Thanks for the advice about the graphic novel but right now, I've got a lot of things to finish ( I'm currently working on a Spawn mini-serie )

Hi Aleksi, i beg to differ, i said simmler, not exactly the same, but hey, your just as good as mr Ross's aerlier work.

The Burning Earth is a series of 5 comics by a company called
'Now Comics'. They also produced a graphic novel , a complete collection of all 5 issues in one novel.
Alex Ross illustrated both the covers and all internal art,he has since risen to fame and to my knowledge never painted the Terminator as a subject since.

He has a web site, i beleive its WWW.Alexrossart.com or http://www.alexrossart.com/archives.html
If you can't find any examples of his work on this fantastic comic set i'd be happy to mail you some scans of the comics.

I'am new to this board and not used to how you post pics ect,
othrewise i'd post an example here.:)

Aleksi
March 2nd, 2003, 01:36 PM
Mosquito : Hey ! I take the comparison with Alex Ross stuff as a great compliment !
My answer was a little too "factual"...i was just speaking about artistic choices, his own and those I try to achieve...

I just remember an AlexRoss interview in which he was speaking about his first comics job but I did'nt remember it was about Terminator.

To post pictures here, just click on the IMG button on the post reply board and then put the URL of your picture (related to your ftp)

Hi Aleksi, have you visited the web site for Alex Ross, i've checked it out and he still show's covers for 5 of the comics and the trade paperback!!
I'd love to hear your opinion on these works, i haven't painted for some years now, i used to be finishing artist with a UK based paperback company called Pan Books, and worked mainly on paset up and front cover mechanicals.

I have met many artist's and photoghaphers who's artwork was truly awe inspiring! but the best work i ever see were the sci fi artist's around 1978-79 period of my employment.
Have you heard of Alan Lee, Brian froud, Frank Frazetta, so many names and faces i can't remember now!! :(
Hers's an example of my modeling skills, the figure is a vynal kit, but the base and sculls ect are self made, and the paint treatment is my own effort.( the eyes glow red with LEDSfor added realismn )
