i decided to scan in a handful of things tonight...so i thought id go ahead and post some..
let me know what you think
oh yeah, looking forward to meeting everyone in Austin this weekend !

i finally got around to getting a wacom tablet and painter, since i just got my own computer. so ive been fooling around with painter 8 for the past week...heres one random sketch... eh still need to figure out some more stuff with it.

great stuff! love the style. cant pick a favorite. your stuff would be one of the examples I would give when saying how a camera just can't capture moments as beautifully as a great artist.

words simply cannot express how much i love your work. how did you get so damn good. ... .seriously? your ability to render and create such amazing and lifelike characters out of your head boggles my mind. these are all things that im working on, but when i look at your work. .i have no idea how i will reach such a high level of utter sweetness.
also, what are you doing now that you are out of school?

stuff like yours gets my creative juices flowing almost instantly. bravo... i didnt sleep that night, its half past 6am, im tired like shit and want to draw.
i think i finally should build myself something large enough to tape the newsprint sheets i cut recently to... i need to work in larger sizes than a4. :(

metalwinds- ive just been taking it easy after getting out of school... doing some freelance stuff..commisions etc. i just had a big group show at a gallery here in cleveland last week..so im keeping busy with a variety of things. no clear plans though as of right now..

Absolutely fabulous drawings. They have this unusual charm to them :) The close-eyed girl in the first pic, the running girl in the dress, and the girl on the floor looking at the camera... all these are just so lovely...

the digital picture, you say you've only had a WACOM tablet for a week?!? Unbelievale, but I believe you as your work is so good. (Just wondering did you draw the whole image in painter, or import a scan?)

Dude i love all of this, and to be honest, i think u just became my hero. i am in shock a bit because of the amazing quality of your work. i love it all. i especially love the man in the suit on the horse. i love the way it seems cold and harsh, like a hangover or something. that kind of BANG in your face feeling is just amazing. Please keep up your work so that i can be inspired by it. this stuff is FUGGIN awesome. ok, sorry, im gonna shutup now, im still in shock.

wes, you're an animal. Definitely paint over some more of those sketches...so nice.
I think the best pages are the ones that you maybe spent a little more time on, with more dark areas than others.

I wish mb could show what wes has done on a professional level here..it will be some months yet. he is one of the top character artists in the industry now. hands down. few can step that way as he has learned to do...speed..accuracy...design...character...mood.. .individual structures of the faces and body structures that help support inner depth of character...you name it..it goes in there...beautiful stuff.
how far you have come man...it is impressive.

Your sketch pages are absolutely stunning - I wish I could pull people half that good out of my head! They're all individuals, which I really admire; the characters on your pages beat generic ideal people any day.

can the admins please change all the titles of Wes' threads to include the date when they were last updated with new art.
I'm all for newbies discovering old great threads (allows for the rest of us to refresh our memories) but its a huge let down when you realise that it was last updated 2 years ago.

I have always admired your collage pages, seems like its impromptu but there is a real composition path in it.
