rough sketch - perfect line art

im reletively new at this digital art thing and im wondering how some of you guys get from a rough sketch to perfect line art which is ready for painting.

is there some sort of trick in photoshop or do you just use your rough skecth and draw perfect line art from scratch

You could make a rough sketch, then clean it up (erase unnecessary lines), then ink it, scan it, adjust levels in photoshop if necessary, paint it

When you've drawn the image to a level that you're happy with, it needs to be inked (which means using a dark pen of some sort to make the lines stand out.

Then scan the image and open photoshop.

click Create new layer from background.

then Image>adjust image>Levels

you'll have an image that pops open with 2 peaks. Move the triangles under the image so that they are roughly at the middle of both peaks, this will get rid of any smudginess on the image.

I know this wont make sense just from reading it, but if you follow th instructions whilst in photoshop it should all become clear.

Easier process:

Just sketch it really light in PS. Then on another layer go over your sketch with a solid brush in PS. Done.

You don't need to scan anything.
