Hey -
I'm interested in getting one of these Wacom tablets that are all the rage. Which ones do you prefer? When doing a search alot of different ones popped up. It was hard to tell which would be best for my needs.

If anyone has any advice I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

I'd say if you're going to use it with Painter, go with the Intuos 2. I have a Graphire, and while it's great, the Intuos has additional features which should be terrific with Painter.
As for size, I like the 4x5 as I prefer a very compact hand/arm movement. But the 6x8 is also very popular.

Intuos 2 if you are into sketching/Painter.

Avoid getting the A4 oversize or whatever its called. I have it and its waaaay bigger than I need, really....

Hi, I have noticed that the only tablets mentioned on this forum are the ones from wacom. Is there any reason why I should not buy a tablet from other companies. Trust has tablets at the budget-end of the price scale. (http://www.trust.com/products/) Do these lack any features that are important?

A quick look tells me that Trust tablets use batteries. I've never had anything but Wacoms, and they don't use batteries, but I've heard that tablets that do eat the batteries like crazy. If you plan to use your tablet very often, and for a long time, it may be more cost effective to go with the Wacom.

Comparing the two 6x8 tablets from http://www.wacom.com/productinfo/6x8.cfm and http://www.trust.com/home/default.htm?viewpage=products/product.htm%3Fartnr%3D12579%26show%3D1 shows that the Trust tablet has a higher resolution of 3048, but shows no mention of pressure levels, tilt, max data rate, or accuracy.

I would also veture to say that the Wacom comes bundled with better software.

I've had my Intuos2 9x12 for about 3 years now, and the only problem I've had with it is the rubber coverings on the sides of the mouse are flaking off (so I have clear tape on it so it won't leave streaks of grey nubbly rubber bits all over my tablet), and the scroll wheel has a mind of its own, but that hardly matters if you're using the pen all the time.

I'd say go with the Intuos, and you won't regret it.
