You can always move to other parts of the world if you think the local industry isn't working out for you.
In any case just be prepared to stay flexible. Unless you're damn good like some of the very prominent professionals here on the forum, this line of work isn't really stable and I don't foresee myself doing it beyond 35 yrs old. Too stressful.

i cant man. i cant work in an industrial job on a phone or in a hospital, or in a bank, or serving people, or in the sun doing labor....i just know art was made for myself and many others....you might not see it now, or 5 years from now but godamnit i swear on my life ill come back here in a few years and make all of you proud that you were the ones that taought me to take critics, bashing, suggestions, and even making me feel like shit. But i know in the end it would have all been worth it. You'll see me working in some sort of gameing company or making movies or something like that. Ill never stop drawing, never stop trying to get into a job in the arts, never. Im not gonna do anything else but this. I dont care if i die trying, i rather know that i gave it my all rather then just quiting. Lets just put it this way, i would rather die then not having a job in the Video gaming buisness...im not gonna do anything else in my life but that. Character Design, 3d modeling or animation. Its gonna be one of those three things.....

Oh there is no doubt that if you keep drawing your ass off for some time and LEARN while you do, that you'll end up working as an artist in one industry.
i would rather die then not having a job in the Video gaming buisness...
Say you get there, I want to see how long you'll stay. The big problem right now is that there are so many happy-puppy juniors getting in the industry.... and true experts leaving it ! Disanchanting and life realities are a big factor there. But I digress ! It's good to have a goal and a good attitude. Learning to get there isn't just about art theory but also ethics, listening, interacting and growing a thick skin.
Mark your calendar in 5 years ! Many things can happend by then, but YOU CAN'T STOP WORKING ON IT.

You gotta remember, the videogame and movie industries are expanding at an amazing rate. Every year it takes more people to finish a given game, more people to handle all the special effects in a movie. It's probably one of the best industries to be going into right now, because there are hundreds of opportunities opening up out there every day if you've got the resolve to hunt them down, and the talent to land them.
Oh, and Jester. You might want to broaden your horizons a bit. It may not work out that you get a job in the videogame industry right away. You may have to settle for, say, illustrating children's books. Or doing storyboards for a cartoon series. There are plenty of rewarding and respectable jobs out there that aren't in the videogame industry, and by taking one, you'll make connections that could, someday, land you that dream job you want designing Halo 5.

jester. i admire your wanting and desire to get into the video game industry. Keep that up, and never let it go. You can do anything you set your mind to, dispite what anyone says. Just know that you're going to have to work hard as hell, but it's worth it in the end, trust me.
