Okay, a new sketchbook... I've been drawing with just pen and marker recently because I felt I was using too many unnecessary lines with pencil. So, here are some pages from my sketchbook from the last couple weeks. I know I should be drawing more, and I'm trying to pick it up, really, but between school work, work work, guitar, and the ladies, I'm not getting as much sketching in as I'd like...
These are just some toon heads, the first one is me, the rest are just made up...

A little Claire Wendling influence here... damn French artists, why do they have to be so good?! You heard me Bengal! Why are you such badasses?

Uuumm... just messing around... logo or something, dunno.

Some disgruntled chica...

yeah, I dunno, it was just a fun picture...

And for these there were two direct influences: Dan Milligan, cause he's a badass just like the French artists, and "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" by the Flaming Lips (great song).

Okay, more to come soon... hopefully. Let me know what you think in terms of lines and all that, and anything else you can think of. Peace

Daaammmn Phuzion! These are excellent, I love your head studies. The first two you posted are great. Im on this big Dreamworks kick right now and they have kinda that feel to them (plus the girl looks like monique from Sinfest.net). Anyway, the meraid is great too, and the little girl, and, well...everything! I cant wait to see more, so POST more fab-o-lous stuff AGAIN SOON.

Hey Phuz,
I went though a phase in art college where I used to bring felt pens and markers to life drawing class. Drove the models crazy with the smell. But it taught me commit to my line, if that makes any sense. Anyhow your stuff looks great makes me want to crack open a marker again.
Peace

Steak-tron: I think it's great that you know that song. Thanks, glad you like it. Yeah I'm feeling the toned paper right now ;p
Yina: Gracias! (yeeeeeeah, bustin' out the espanol)
Keepiru: Why thank you! That's cool that it's reminiscent of Dreamworks... I was certainly thinking animation, so it's quite the compliment for you to get that feeling from it. Awesome
Dan M: Hey thanks. It means a lot comin' from you as you're one of my main inspirations right now, so I appreciate it. I just may have to piss off the models ;p Or just get 'em high off the fumes. Keep on rockin' it man! Peace
van: domo arrigato!! -.-
Iiori: Gratzi!
K, here's a couple more. It was a rather unproductive day... so I only managed two. I feel pathetic, but Harry Potter was good ;p

This is actually just a drawing of an old character, but I saw my old pictures and felt the need to do her a little more justice.

awesome work....love your style....ive seen those flesh toned books before...has ayone seen a gray sketchbook...maybe a 40%?
Phuzion
June 8th, 2004, 11:36 AM
That's fucked up. RedCheeks had gotten corrupted before, so I reloaded it and it was fine... Well, it should be good to go now. ANYWAY!!
Popeye: Yeah, I'm illustration. Do you go to Art Center? Heh heh, yep, self portrait. I look, perhaps, a little more wholesome than I really am, but who's counting, right? ;p Thanks for the compliments.
buzzz3d: Ha! stay away from the ladies... yeeeeeeaaaaahhh... never been good at that, but we'll see what I can do, thanks mate ;p
killing.people: why hello sir! Yah, figured I'd post some more... hadn't been around on CA much in the last month or two, started missing all my fellow art dorks heh heh.
artkitty: Hey thanks! Yeah I hope RedCheeks is fixed now and doesn't get jacked up again. Midtones are fun, but when it comes to marker and colored pencil, you can use white paper too, I'm just not seeing the forms on white right now, what can ya' do...
nofingers: I've seen gray sketchbooks... somewhere between 30% and 40%... but I saw them online, and I dont' remember where. My friend uses them though, so I'll ask him and get back to you, cause I want one too. Thanks a lot, I'm glad you like them.
Thanks again everyone! I'll try and post more as soon as I can. Peace

Hey thanks van ;p
Thanks Jackal, it's good to be back.
Anywho, I'm really trying to keep this a daily sketchbook, so you're gettin' 'em as I'm drawin' 'em... none of that, "this is stuff from 6 months ago". So yeah, it's keeping me drawing from day to day, which is the point I guess. Anyway, only a few pages today... dammit all, I should be more productive. It's the ladies, I swear.
random stuff...

Phuzion...uber-talented, good musical taste, and a Harry Potter fan? I think I might be in love :hearts: Lol I kid (to a degree)...these are looking INCREDIBLE. The brown toned paper really makes these killer, the spotted girl is my favorite, and I also really like the line sketch of the woman at the top of the last dump, its simple and elegant. More more more!

Great sketch thread.

HA! KP, awesome. I'll take that challenge ;p
Popeye: The only way to waive a class now is to go to one of the teachers of that class, show them work that demonstrates you know how to do it already, and pray that they'll say, "Okay, you're good enough, you need this class" and sign the waive sheet (good luck, it's a bitch). Then go to, in the case of Form and Letterform, the Foundation chair, or his assistant Wendy Adest, and get them to sign the waive sheet too... then you can waive it... have fuuuuuun!! ;D I waived two classes and I had to jump through some hoops to do it.
And no, I have not been attending workshops, only because I prefer to draw people outside in life. I have three classes at school that deal with the figure in the studio, so that's enough for now. You get more of a sense of naturalism by drawing out in the real world, and you realize that people don't naturally take crazy dramatic poses when they're standing around ;p Peace
