Here's a drawing from a few days ago. I markered it a little different than usual. I'm still learning.
I'm also trying to sketch little 5-10 minute character designs more often. I did them last night. I'm gonna try some environments today.

Wow, I love them sketches. I wish I could come up with stuff like that out of my head. But its so hard for me to do that. Great marker job. Love that first one and the rest of the little guys. :)

Here's my very first environment. I need to start cranking these out if I want to be a concept artist.
This isn't really a concept, as much as it is an exercise with sketching in perspective. This is my first and I'd really like whatever crits I can get, because I want to improve, so tear it up. No mercy.

Tarwater are you going to be at the portfolio show showing off your stuff? I'm trying to set things up because you, cotie, and a few others who are well just amazing are going to be showing off stuff and hopefully i can learn from it.

Nice going, Tarwater- great character stuff! For a first environment that's pretty dang impressive. Think about what your buildings are constructed from, the details of their inner structures, and their functions in the lives of the characters who inhabit them. Yam! I've launched into another lecture- sorry! ^_^: Look at the walls in your structures- mighty thin- what are they built of? Stucco over brick? Stone? Wood? Is the roof really supported by those just those two beams? I really like the idea of the wooden timbers rings involved in the structure of that tower, but how are they made? They might be a nice theme for further development of this culture. After all these people are cool enough to build fountains with fish, but wouldn't they make the fountain more than just a cube-y block? I hope I'm not being pedantic... As far as the composition of the picture goes, that mountain in the middle robs your pic of all the flow and rhythm you've set up with the layout of your structures. Throw it off to the side and get dynamic wit' it! Above all, keep going! You're on a roll!

I think the 5-10 minute character sketches are awesome. I shpuld try doing some of these some day, too.

Thanks for the responses.
chukw - Thanks a lot for the input. That's the stuff I need.:D I checked out your site and you got some amazing skills.
Grifter730 - It's our school portfolio show.
davis_c - I will be there, but not showing anything. I'll be graduating next quarter.
hawkprey - After seeing an hour's worth of a certain concept artist's stuff, I learned what it really takes to be a concept artist and how fast you have to crank, and hopefully soon I'll be roaming the timeless land of Atkins! more winking and nudging
Here's a page of quick concepts from last night.
