Nice..

This done in layers in photoshop? Looks like it is.

Question- do you do a tonal layer as a multiply layer then add a colour colour layer?

I really would like to know how you achieve those nice textures in the background...are they from a photo?
Or are they painted? I refere to that green mossy stuff.

ok, i've been viewing this forum for quite a while now, and just today i decided to register because i find that people are just plain stupid. i constantly i've been ticked off when looking at the comments people leave on other's artwork, so now i get to post.

someone in here posted "buttons on sleeves?" or something close to that, THATS A STUPID COMMENT, its petty! its character design, so what if he has a button on his sleeve, well guess what, since YOU'VE never seen a button on a sleeve before doesnt that add pooints to this piece for originality? personally I think its damn original and i like it.

another thing, in a critique your reviewing and discussing artwork, this helps the artist to visualize what he could have done to make it better and such, an artist is already his biggest critic, i mean i've only gone about a week at longest without going "OH! i should have done that...." after i've finished the work, when someone posts something like "make his shoes red" what the hell is that telling anyone. WHY make his shoes red? how dare u just come in and say it like that fullstop. What makes u think that the artist himself didn't think about that, and who says that making them red would make it better, I don't think so...so thats just YoUr opinion.

well Aleksi, i think the rasta&gun piece is very nice, keep it up, i especially like the tatoo and background elements, and the BUTTON (if it trulyis a button)...i think its very original. :)

Very very Interesting picture, well executed

The pose as it is is kind of tricky but it's well done in this.

Great Jaerb

Cryo-------------- The colors are made with Photoshop. i didn't use layers exactly like this with one layer for the tone and one another for the color.
For this one I choose two flat colors ( tone and hue )that seems to be nice together and fits with the background color ( the grey ). I tried some different things but the first choice ( it's not always the same thing! Sometimes it's a hard battle !) seems to be one of the best. Naturaly there was some adjustments. i even try colors more vivids but I don't like the result...

Asylum------------I've still not have a webpage but it will come soon.. You can look at some others olders post here, at ConceptArt

Lono--------------This famous button is a pure design gimmick:)
If I had to justify it, it's a pressure button that adjust the clothe ( something like the pressure button on the Reebok shoes "Pump" )( the background of the game is a close future )
Et hop !! :)

Hermchen-------The texture on the Background is hand-made with paint, sellotape and other stuff

Nog------------I try the red shoes but it seems to me too much. I've already have a triangular red composition ( gun/tatoo/cap in the pocket). I think it would have been too "insistent"...
And there was other red elements on the whole cover ( Typography, title and some other graphic elements )
I don't know if it was the best choice but it seems tome to be more subtle

Enigma---------There's no problem :)
Your work can't please to everybody... Some people will find something very good in your picture as one another will find that the same thing was a very bad choice...
if the comment and the suggestion is justified and well explain, it can make me thing about it, sometimes change this thing and make it better ( even if it'sn't for this finished and already printed piece, it will be for a next one ) and sometimes absolutly not
It's another question when it's about sensibility, feeling and more essential artistic choices...
Personally, I like to discuss about my pictures whith graphist friends when I made them... It alllow freshness and make me try to look at it more objectively...
Sometimes I don't listen to comments and sometimes I do...

But for this one I already tried red shoes :)
it's a choice

This looks really sweet Aleksi...looks awesome. Man that arm is at a really hard angle and you rendered it well. That is tough. The can really looks like it's in his pocket too. I love your art...it's awesome. Very inspiring. The color you used on the tatoos is awesome. It stands out but doesn't take all the attention away from the face or the gun. Great work.
