do not be afraid to mule over a gesture sketch. be sure that when doing a gesture, the marks you place have purpose, are acurate, keep them light, and are clean and rememberable before you begin to renender. after all, why waist your time hitting the nail if you haven't aimed?

well nadim these sketches are really impressive.

It seems that your skeleton drawing practice really did you some good. I have only one thing to tell you, is that finally you are on the track to having a style of your own, you develop yourself quickly and you have the talent for that.

keep it up man

Mr Nadim
I guess u have finally succeeded in achieving something instead of the Billiard thing, cz I think U r mastering ur colored drawings, instead of mastering Billiards that u will never reach to master cz there is someone outhere is a real master, I think u know him, his name is " 00 DIAB"......
Anyway, let us get serious, those dwgs. are really pieces that really deserve to meditate in, really... very strong, matching & expressive colours. I like'em veru much.... why don't u try to do something from reality then... I think u will surprise us,.....so I am waiting to see more.... very very nice work...keep it up

I like your pencil use in Shaher.jpg, the strokes all following the same direction is effective. The shells would be much better if they were larger, same with the taro too. They look like good things to study the texture of, and that would be so much easier if you drew them bigger (I am making an assumption on their size based of the size of the sketchbook binding rings of course  )

I like that one realistic portrait the best! I would suggest doing more of those studies from real life, and what you pick up will carry over into what you sketch just out of your head. keep it up!

Hey, and welcome to our SB group. :)

Looks great. :)

I especially like the buildings and the pathway. :)

When it comes to the studies, it will probably pay off to do them large scale, as mentioned. Great work on the face. I like the contours I can see in one of the old posts with a body though, so I'd really like to see some full body concepts or life drawings. :)

Drawing from life is the way forward! The only intelligent hint I can give would be to try and construct the people you draw with as few lines as you can afford to use - work on line confidence. They're looking good already!

Hey,
About the figure...
I just started looking at Andew Loomis's stuff. His books are really good to learn the figure..I just printed out like 30 pages to study from (and in the process emptied my ink on my printer! !)
anyways...
here is a link for you to look at..

Loomis Rocks! (http://www.saveloomis.org/)

Some good stuff there.

nice! keep up those really loose drawings from life, i think you got the characters down pretty well in both of them with the simple loose approach

Very nice. Since you asked for advice, for what it's worth, i'll throw in an observation. I think you could sometimes try to more clearly break the forms into their simple masses. Like in the last sketches, think of the body as a block and shade one side where the planes change. You did it in some drawings, in others it looks like you just copied the tones without thinking about them too much.

Nadim,
Hello, off to a late start here, but I'll post more regularly now.

I really like your May 9th drawing (the top one). It's a good composition and I like how the semi-circular backs of the chairs move you into the picture. Also love that abstract circular shape in the background and that it mirrors the circular chair backs. If you compare the top drawing to the bottom one I think the top one is stronger because it has less -- your lines are tighter and well thought out and the shading is also stronger.

For the May 29th post, I really like your skull studies -- there are some nice lines and edges there. Also like the portrait (is it a self-portrait?) I think the portrait is a good start and you seem to be thinking a lot about proportion. My crits/suggestions for the portrait would be to think about describing the hair/details in terms of value rather than focusing on what it is -- sometimes it helps to squint your eyes when looking at something so that the details of the object become less distinct and you can focus on the large masses of value. How would you redo the same portrait if you weren't allowed to add detail, just the basic forms of mass/value?

Hope that helps, later

giles.t - thanks a lot, your reply was really helpful. It was not a self portrait .it was drawn from imagination.

great stuff! I think you need to work on the eyes more in your faces, they're very important to get right and yours aren't quite right yet.
Keep working!! Post more!!
