Hi,

Need some help pricing a job. It's the first ever freelance art contract I have done and simply have no real idea what to charge.

It breaks down like this: The contract is for 50 pinup style illustrations for a website, I generate the concept, then the final artwork for web use. all told each illustration will take me about 2 - 2.5 hours to produce.

Should I work out an hourly rate and then charge a flat rate based on the estimated time the whole thing would take? I dont want to overprice as the website I am doing the work for isnt that bigtime and the contract would be good (As I just became unemployed) and would be good for my portfolio.

My current thinking is approximately £20 per image = £1000 for the whole contract.

Please help!

do hourly...add on twenty percent...and ask for that rate. if it is a big company then you can often get better rates. if it is a big budget project then ask for more than what you would normally charge. if they say no...come down...if they say yes. smile a lot.

seems like a lot of work for a thousand bucks though.
