I did this with the marker in painter 6. I'm not good at sketching stuff out of my head, but this one came out okay. I'd like to work on it more. But I'm posting it here for comments and critique. I'd like to paint a finished piece that came from a sketch that I did, without using ref. This could be one, but....

should it be? What do I fix, change or what suggestions can u guys give me?:)

yea it's always hard to sketch somethin' from your head..
here's what I do .. when I wanna start something.. I do a 30 second sketch to get the idea down (for me, if I get somethin' down quick I get the majority of what was in my head down on paper) then I trace over that sketch and figure out what I wanna do..
it's important to do it as quickly and loose as possible.. in fact I'd like to see you post a quick 30 second sketch of what you're planning..

as far as the pic goes.. I really like how sloppy and lose it is.. I'd like to see a little bit of that shine through in the final peice...
the only thing to work on is just the proportions of his feet.. I like the contrast a lot.. it seems like he's commin' out of a really dark room into a bright and vibrant room.. there's a lot you could do with that in a final peice.. but keep the white part bare and simple so it appears realy realy bright..

I like the way you're sketching this out.

One thing I might change is the legs...they don't to match with the curve of the body so I'd change the angle to make him look like his back is against a wall. Maybe he is leaving a dark alley into the bright street ?

I thought the legs did match because of the jet pack on his back. Its propelling him back into the darkness(whatever the darknss may be). So should I still change the legs, or did you guys not see the jet pack?
