View Full Version : P.O.W.! Challenge 59 (A-B) Final Poll - Challenge C Winner!
April 26th, 2012, 11:33 AM
A Panels of the Week (P.O.W.!) Poll.
Vote for one artist (not yourself) whose comic pages you think best expressed the topics (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=239008) for this P.O.W.! Polls stay open for 3 weeks after the contest deadline. The competing entries are displayed below.
Read over the entries and see which one fits the challenge topic best in your opinion. Look for a story that fits the topic, art that fits the narrative or has a interesting style, consider the lettering and the colouring, if any. But most of all, if someone's entry is really entertaining or really hilarious, give them a vote!
We POW'ers want the whole community of CA.org to give us feedback on the polls. Please feel free to vote for your favourite, whether you entered or not! Even if you just stumbled upon us just now, vote for the pages that caught your eye.

Automatic Challenge C winner! - Angel Intheuk
April 26th, 2012, 11:53 AM
Sorry about the delays you guys. This month has been astounding for entries. I am in love with Angel Intheuk's winner on challenge C and for once when I say that I don't know who to vote for, I really am struggling to finally come to a decision. The entries are awesome.
I hope Moebius would be proud. :)

Aw shucks thanks Donalfall :teeth: I'm having trouble deciding who to vote for too...I love...all of them, each for something different.

You're welcome. :) I think it is the sweetest interpretation of the Starwatcher idea that I have seen, no joke.

That was a tough decision for sure, I was really torn between them all, overall Bzoleta's and bill's were my favorite. Bill won out because your line work is no damn nice! :)
Amerasu's was excellent, just didn't have the emotional content as my two favs.
Kjiesta, I liked the beginning of yours, but it just felt like the pacing was off, and then that last page was kind of witty, but it really just added to the off pace. I liked your line work plenty, just a couple little things hurt you.
Angel, I frickin love this, this didn't show up for me in the original thread until just a few days ago, really is a warm, wonderful interpretation. Something about it being set in Africa at night really gets me, I dunno, but its awesome!
Great job everyone, a very close competition all and all!

For anyone interested, I finally got some time to drop color into the last couple of pages of this piece, where it's posted in Non-Competitive Comics (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3444935&postcount=38).
Since this is my first real involvement here, I'd feel weird posting any criticism, but I'm happy to detail what I liked most about each entry, because as Angel said, I like each of them very much for different reasons.
Amerasu- The speed with which you posted your entry took my breath away, and it was put up fully realized, with a level of craftsmanship in drawing and finish that I would have expected in something that took much longer. And I'm a sucker for surprise-twist endings!
Bzoleta- As SnailsPace said, yours has a haunting emotional content that's amplified by the isolation of your setting and the colors in your palette. I really enjoyed it.
Kjesta- Yours had an involving story and some very nice drawing, with your costume and set design all working together to create a look and a mood for your piece.
SnailsPace- As soon as I saw the look of your style on the first page you put up I thought it reminded me of the kind of rebel art you might have found in Heavy Metal back in the days when Moebius was publishing there. When you put up the whole thing, I immediately recognized the funny seagull/pteranodon character that was such a moebius signature. Since this challenge was all about Moebius for me, I had to give you my vote for those reasons.
Angel Intheuk- Your piece is beautiful. Just beautiful. The subtle but immediately recognizable inclusion of the patterns from the original illustration in your new context works very, very well. I loved it.
Thanks for everyone's kind words and for making me feel at home on the forum. Thanks to donalfall for your feedback and all your help getting my stuff posted.
