Title: "Excellent, my tower is burning, but i managed to save this awesome stick..."

Crits: The composition just swoops my eyes of the page, probably because you have everything interesting happening in the top left, and nothing at all on the right side except for a big slope. Adding something to the right side of the composition would probably be a good idea.

I like the character, the small details like the stuff in his beard, and the original design of the staff is good. The way the fabric folds looks good to me too.

I think the skintones on the hands are a bit confusing, at first look they look like leather gloves, but the details on them makes me think theyīre hands, especially his right hand.

Adding some sharper/broader/textured brushstrokes to make it look less digital would probably be a good idea too, but thatīs a style thing and not a real crit.

All in all i like the pic, it has an unfriendly, lonely feeling to it that i like, and itīs well rendered. Good stuff. :)

I Walk the Path alone.
Nice pic, other than what was said abot the left side being bare, my only crit is that you have all this cool detail on his staff and his beard; you should have added more stuff to his belt, and maybe his hands. Like some rings, and some more pouches, spell components, and some wards against evil and such. Old wizards alwyas remind me of cluttered pack rats, who like to carry little nick-nacks and stuff. Just my 2 cents.

Edit: My pick:
"Leave the Past forgotten"

Funny:
"Call me an old coot....."
"When spells go awry"
"NOW, I am the best wizard!"
"You asked for a light..."
"Yep, still got it"
"Your fired"
"Maybe I should have flicked instead of swirled"
"CLATU VERTA NICC*coughtttu*"
"POOF"

Less funny:
"It has begun"
"The Beacon of war is lit"
"Firespell"
"Can't go back"

Wow, people, some really cool titles! I'll be choosing a winner on Friday, me thinks.

One thing, if you have more than one suggestion, do please go back and whittle your titles down to one each. I apologize, I should have thought about this when I came up with the idea to do this, but I think it's only fair that you post the one you think is the best, and it will be easier for me to select a winner.

Thanks for the comments and crits. I hope to fix some of the stuff before I send out the print.

Cheers,
~Oreg.

Hmm I didn't know we can add comedical lines, we'll here goes nothing.

"I said no one steals my bong, but do they listen"
"First Arsonist in history"
"Where Dry ice was first invented"
"One who travels alone, sets fire alone"
"When smoke signals go bad"
his face looks like he's saying gibberish "rashafrashawasha"

Oh, man. This was hard. A lot of the titles made me laugh out loud when I reviewed them. A lot of them were just plain good.

Finally, I decided that I couldn't choose the title myself, having too many preconcieved notions as to what was going on in the picture, so I asked my wife, who is a college level English instructor and completely impartial to any happenings here in the forums, to whittle the titles down to a winner, her word being final.

Our winner for this thread is:
"Ille qui Incidere" (that which falls), by Bradart

Bradart, please PM your address so I can kick out your print.

Cheers, and thanks troops, this has been fun! :D

Hey fungi, cool title. No worries. I'm going to sell 8x11 HP prints for $10, so let me know if you want one.

They won't be ready immediately because I need to make a couple of edits, but I'll be sending stuff out in about two weeks.

Cheers,
~Oreg.
