I dunno how I feel about the content, but your style rocks. It seems very familiar to me but I just can't place it. Can you list any big influences? What kind of media did you use? I'm going to guess digital on a pencil drawing, but one never can be sure.

I'm sorry but I won't do so. My influences are obvious and I must admit that I feel a bit sad and kind of embittered about that. I do not force my style and what you see here comes really freely from me. This is exactly what I want to express and it's hard to think that my stuff looks like a copy of other "big" people.
In fact I'm not sure if I have to continue on with my stuff or if I should stop and try to find another job ! I'd be really grateful if some people here tell me what's his feeling about it.

the first thing i thought of when i saw your work was Kent Williams. but i feel like there are a couple of other people out there that are using this style too. However i think your work is really beautiful, even though youve borrowed so much techniques. I saw your website stuff and it seems to me that the work youve been recently posting is sort of a new directionfor you (?). Because you are a competent artist with strong drawing skills i would say just move forward as far as posssible, and youll develop your own, more original style out of that. I recently met a comic book artist Mike MIgnola and he told me that in the industry there are the original artists and then theres the people that try to copy their styles-- and iff a company cant afford that artist then theyll go down the list of the copyers wholl work for cheaper--problem is youll get stuck in that other persons style and will have less room to change cuz youll pigeon hole yourself--but i think youre a good enough artist to use the another artists influence but it doesnt have to determine the way every picture looks in its entirety--i mean the fact that youre poainting digitally is one step in a diff. derection from youre influences. ty

Bah ! dont worry about style or who people think your work looks like ! Thats what i say thing is if you just practice every day and work on your skills , you are able to put down on paper/digital whats in your head then you achieve your goal !
At least in my opinion the people that are after a specific style have a longer road ahead of them just do what you love and youll look back at your work and there style will be
My guess is that no matter what you end up doing or what your work looks like if you got skill then you do and if you work hard then its going to show in solid work! all the time worried aobut style could have been used doing more sketches if you know what i mean
as for the pics the colors are cool and moody but i think if your going to do a series of pics choose a anotomic frame and stick to it more consistently , there interesting to look at so that says alot ! nice work

hey living rope, i for one like your style! i see maybe a little ashley wood or a little kent williams influence, but thats not a bad thing. besides, i wouldnt say you're ripping them off, your work has a look thats all your own, i think. personally, i think you're one of the best artists to post here. i'm always happy to see your posts. you are dope. -oh and i like these, particularly the first one. very strong. keep up the good work.-c36

ok... as far as i believe... its pretty much impossible.. to NOT be influenced by other artists (unless you grow up in isolation). its just how our brain works.. it legos all these small little influences from art, from music, from movies, from books. we all (most of us) have our own unique ideas. excessive amounts of *anything* is harmful. and i feel overdrive inspiration is especially harmful, because it handicaps our imagination ... and once we've dug that hole ... it can take some time to climb out.
im sorry. i ramble.
ANYWAY ... when i look at your stuff.. i sometimes see hints of inspiration ... but i also see hints of raw originality.. and most importantly, IMAGINATION.
you draw beautiful things.. please dont stop :p

Please don´t let yourself get distracted - I really like your style (as I told before) and even if there are influences visible it´s your own stuff with your own fingerprints. You´re one of my favourite artists on this board and I would hate to see you despair.
Keep on posting and keep on drawing!

Hey Living Rope! Do not despair! It is true; we are all influence to great degrees by other artist. It is how we learn. Your will and have already gone beyond your influences and made something new. I agree with El Coro that you are one talented man (you may be a woman so forgive me if i have made this mistake). And that come from El Coro who himself is beyond reproach and of infinite talent.
It is part of the journey. If you were to go back far enough you would see who influenced Mike Mignola. You can still see Jeff Jones and egon shiele in Kent Williams?s work. In fact Kent used a sheile pose almost verbatim in the blood series. Ashley wood is very influence by K'ents work. You can see it directly in the line. Bill Sienkiewicz was almost another Neal Adams for awhile.
Someone asked me about my obvious influences in another thread. Here is my answer. http://http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2296
Forgive me if i have messed up this link thing. If it does not work my reply is post in the uninvited process piece over in the tutorial section.
I love your work! You inspire me.

It's funny. I saw Egon Shiele's paintings for the first time last week. Perhaps that's what these paintings reminded me of. I just finished a class on Chinese art history, where studying and copying the masters is both expected and encouraged. I really wouldn't worry if someone is reminded of something else when they see your work, I think that is completely normal.

guys... i must say... I just love you all. And I have troubles finding the words to say thank you. Thank you so much.
Foster, man it's your time to be a guide, my guide. I've just finished reading your file and you are definitely right. These are confidences of great value. I copied it on my disk and you can be sure that I will read it as soon as I have doubts. I guess that I'll know it by heart in a few days since I'm doubting all the time :D
(and hey ! don't you worry, I'm a man ! :D )
El Coro, I just can't even figure that you replied. I don't know what to say but "Woaw!". Your intervention and advices filled my heart with pride and joy. That is exactly what I needed ;) :chug:
ffiuuh ! 'hope I'm not boring you, friends, but I'm sincerely glad you came by. Be sure that I owe you one.

jean-seb, we've been working for about two years in the same studio, and even though you were doing something else than painting or designing, i remember where your heart really was. and where you were bount to go. now that you're completely in it, there's no way back! :>
there's no other possibilities, you're a dude from the image world. you may ask yourself if you're taking the right direction within your own graphic creations, but you may definitely erase the second question which is: to stop and do something completely different.
never ask this question again! otherwise i'm gonna slap you for good! :>:>:>
