Space Gorilla

here's a space simian I am currently working on.
These are a few color schemes I was playing with.

I think I'll go with no.1 as the main suit and no.4 as 'evening' wear :p

Very cool stuff...I'd go with the first one too. The yellow goes with the gorrila well...and you can't go wrong with a huge gorrilla in a yellow and pink space suit! :D

That gorrilla is really cool. Or simian :). Looks like you are going fo a cell shaded feel, but I may be wrong. I think you picked the best two also. I like the red light the best.

Sherban, its looking good man. The only problem is i don't see anything diff. from these guys except for the color scheme? Try messing with different character designs as well. I don't mean to go into all the extra work or modelling or changing parts.. but try simply drawing over these images to see what you can come up with. You might be suprised.

As far as color goes though.. I think it would be interesting to have the glowing part on his chest change color depending on his mood or what is happening around him.

Your space dude is pretty neat Sherban ! You might be well beyond this point but I think you could push it's face features a bit more. It's not striking at first glance that it's a primate (unless that's not where you wanted to go). Something closer to a gorilla might be nice :)

as for your colour schemes, here's what comes out of it :

1. Good guy, on alert or something malfunctionning with his suit (red LED)
2. Goog guy - Hero.
3. Good guy for comedy
4. Sentry on alert / peeved.
5. Sentry guard.

I'd love to see walking cycles as well :)

Grooveholmes: I actually thought the major modeling bit was done. But I think I'll try some different modelling too. Great idea :chug:

egerie: Will do, about the face. I'll try and dig up some reference.

WerxOne: I'd like to animate him if I get the time but right now I'll be happy to just have him in a cool pose.

As for the lights changing - I was thinking it could change according to the suit's function. Like blue when in sheild mode, red when flying etc.

Damn dude, great character design.
I dont really have any opinions on the different colors, except I like your idea of changing his light color for the different "modes" hes in.
And btw- what is this "space gorilla" gonna be used for?

This would be a cool duo! Why not the gorilla in black? Like natalie...i looked at the style of chris' version and your one. How about something on one of his arms...a metal cover or something...just to kick this character a little more...

I already love them and can't wait to see more...
